Ive not used XS7 to do exports yet, but i have done many in 6.2 and 6.5 the last few months. Your export speed will be limited by network and source and destination disk systems.
If you have a Gb all the way, and your XS storage is fast, then you will be limited by the destination disk system. so if you have 'crappy 8 year old usb2 hdd' to export to, youre not going to be exporting at 1Gb. If you have 'new usb3 hdd' hooked up to usb3 ports on your workstation and export there, you may hit that.
I hit about 240Mbps on my exports due to using 'new usb3 hdd' hooked up to usb2 ports. Ive got a usb3 card somewhere...

Start/stop permissions in XS pool
Making a new topic, rather than add on to one started today.
One thing i find lacking in XS is teh abillity to give users access to start/stop a vm without giving them that access to the entire pool. So far this does not seem possible in XS as it is in VmWare(never used HyperV). Am i right about this? I would really like to move some esxifree vms to XS, but to do that i would need this ability. I suppose i could make a 'pool of 1' and do it that way. -
RE: Shark Week
@travisdh1
Yes paddle boarding is great fun. Youre right the water is a huge shock. Especially if youre out when it gets above 90, then you jump in water that is mid 50s, it almost hurts. -
RE: Shark Week
I just wish the salt water in the NW wasnt so damn cold all the time. Puget Sound doesnt even make it to 60 degrees F, ever. The Pacific Ocean is just as cold or colder all year too.
-
RE: Shark Week
Of course not. There is that fable about a scorpion and a goat that need to cross a river...
I am saying that out of tens of millions of man beach hours per year, only half a dozen people are attacked. You are more likely to be killed by police, or a lightning bolt in a given year. -
RE: Shark Week
Swimming in the ocean is fun. Much more fun:risk ratio than the very remote danger of getting eaten by a shark. When i lived in Orlando i used to drive out to the public beaches just outside Canaveral multiple times a week. Sometimes even got to watch rockets take off from about 2 miles away.

RE: Is Texas Next?
Right, i was just saying bonds are dumb comjpared to even garbage stocks lock jnj. I wouldnt ever buy JnJ, just giving expample of how easy it is to beat any bond investment
-
RE: Non-IT News Thread
Trading is dumb; investing is the way to go. Holding positions for a couple years and only buying worthwhile companies.
-
RE: Is Texas Next?
I must agree, bonds never made sense to me.
Not when i can buy something like JnJ and get 4% dividend with some room for capital appreciation. Oh and they havent lowered their dividend since the 1940s, so it is almost as good as bond in risk factor. -
RE: Computer randomly crashes and shuts down!
This is an tls/ssl issue from the sounds of it. Is this some sort of machine that people remote desktop to?
Seems liek you have some software or driver issue that is causing the issue. You can run the dell system update to check for new drivers
Do you have other computers that are same make and model? -
RE: If you had to choose a Security Certification.....
I was thinking of getting GIAC GSEC
The ISC track does look interesting here though. Seems quite thorough. -

I've not really followed the issue to know which side has more benefit - Member or non-Member of the EU. So I don't know if this is a good or bad thing. I suppose time will tell...
Depends, it doesn't make sense to leave from an economic standpoint. It doesn't really make sense to leave from a social standpoint. One of the biggest arguments was that the EU was forcing the UK to open its borders to refugees and immigrants, leaving the EU allowed the UK to better protect itself from those forces.
"Protect itself" from helping those in need is the basic premise we hear in the EU.
No argument there... I agree with you but was trying to present the argument in an unbiased way.
I think protecting itself implies a danger rather than a dislike for helping those of non-European heritage. It's not about danger, it's about dislike. Which is why so many people are so upset about how the vote went from the outside. That the US is anti-Semitic is well known and the level of open racism in the US is what it is. The UK was supposed to be better but this seems to be stooping to the American level and that is very upsetting. This will make it so much easier for Americans to carry on with it to yet another level in their next elections too. It's a snowball effect, just like in the 1920s. Not that it will happen, but this is how it starts.
^^ This. Period. Thanks Scott.
are you saying that trump is the next Hitler?
If he wont, I will. Listen to the fucking horseshit that comes out of his mouth. 'Ban muslims' that is all you need to hear. Then go read some of Hitler's speeches. Then tell me their differences. The fact that half of Americans agree with him is beyond disgusting, and proof that at least half of Americans are still racist shitbags(I am American).
Blame me for beeing a German citizen, I don't care in this case: What that scum did was something bestial, and I'm out for any Hitler comparisons. He just did something neither I nor anyone else can probably imagine. We Germans still have a hard time to get around this. There was just another sentence a few months ago against one of his last remaining soldiers: 97yr old Oskar Gröning was found guilty of "accessory to murder" (Google translator...) in roughly 300.000 cases.
So please, compare the next president with a chimp, I don't mind. But comparing someone to Hitler isn't something to be taken lightly.
I am not saying this lightly. I am not terrified of Muslims, I am terrified of Trmup's rhetoric, and the tens of millions of voters that seem to agree with it.

RE: Non-IT News Thread
19:1 in favor of staying. How did that even get up for a vote if support for exit was nonexistent?
edit: oh wait that was just an exit poll from google. perhaps the real vote is closer. -
RE: Linux Mint File Manager and ReadyNAS
Possibly it is a package or package-addon that was not included in the default install of Mint 17.3
You might have to check the differences between them out on distrowatch or something like that.
Or open Synaptic on both desktops and compare installed packages from there. or do something with apt-get from the cli and output all installed packages to a csv for each machine, then compare them. -
RE: Just How Hard is University to Overcome
I must say, if i had not gone to college and racked up debt and started investing at 18 instead of 28, id be retired at 40 as a millionaire. Just a couple hundred dollars a month for ten years adds up quickly, even at the average of 8%.
Making up for that time means i have to put thousands away each month now, which is just about impossible.
Then again, try telling that to an 18 year old kid.
Also, when and why is college so expensive now? As recently as the mid 90s you could go to a state university for like a thousand dollars per quarter, max. Now it is ten times that much. Are kids getting ten times the value? I highly doubt it. -
RE: SPF Records for Google Apps Mail
Yes, if the spoofing host is sending email from an address that isnt included in spf.google.com and you have hard fail on, that message should be dropped by the receiving email server when it does its spf check. Softfail leaves it up to the discretion of the receiving server, but usually will just tag the message with Softfail and deliver it.
