FTA, this looks like it only affects the SSH clients... Right?

"The problem involved a bug that exposed a memory leak to a malicious SSH server," Cox explained. "Because the data in question didn't cross any trust or execution boundaries, the malicious server could get the client to possibly leak sensitive authentication key data."

I think it's both. I ran my update playbook and everything was patched within about 3 minutes 🙂

Never heard of ownCloud but tried watching some of the features videos

      https://owncloud.org/features/

and whoever made them sounds like a 14 year old boy going through puberty. Just can't keep watching.

At the core, ownCloud is basically a self hosted DropBox.

I use it at multiple clients and use it personally.

Hmmm guess I'll have to try it out. I like the idea of staying off the grid with my files. What's your beef against having your own hosted email server?

It's the all in one that he doesn't like. Same basic reasoning as to why Windows SBS was so horrible.

Eh? I though you, @scottalanmiller didn't like self hosted email because it is often way to expensive for someone to host themselves compared to what they get service wise going with something like Rackspace ($1 Spiceworks price, $2 normal people price + $1/user for activesync, or $4 for O365 email only).

That's correct. What makes you say that as if I said something contrary?

Only that you mentioned the "it's the all in one that he doesn't like" when talking about email being added to Owncloud.

That may be one person's desire, but it seems more pressing to push on the issue of almost never self hosting email if possible.

Maybe, but that wasnt what I was answering 🙂

      oh, what did I miss?

I was answering why he didn't like having the email on the same server as other, non-email items.

I tried Rundeck. It was more confusing than just using Ansible without a GUI. IMO, just having the playbook with yaml and jinja files is easier to read and use. GUIs always have at least one thing you need in a place you wouldn't think.

I guess I wouldn't mind having some reports in a GUI but I'll stick with just text files.

You don't think $5,000 a year for 100 nodes is reasonable?

Not so much, no. When you consider that the assumption is that many of those nodes are $5/mo to operate. That could be nearly 10% of your entire server budget!

lol plus thats the base price with only 30 days of support and no SLA ....

Exactly. Those prices get a bit crazy. $5/year/server would make a lot more sense. There are many cases where I would pay more for Ansible than I would for the server itself!

There was once a good old day when Linksys was good...

I run DD-WRT on a Netgear Blackhawk (D7000 iirc, not one of the new ones), and it's been solid. Of course Comcast decided to push a friendly firmware update to my cable modem this weekend which reset the config, took it out of bridge mode and re-enabled the modem's own DHCP and routing services (and Lord knows what else), taking me offline. Annoying (not to mention a potential security nightmare)... mostly because I spent an hour jacking around before it even occurred to me to login to the modem and check it's settings.

      Are you me? lol

This happened to me a couple weeks ago - same setup, same software, different router.

If I understand correctly how that app works, it streams video content from public trackers. Poor quality and a huge risk for legal repercussions. And while open source licensing allow them to avoid legal trouble - except the original developers - the end users are exposed to all kinds of issues.

Only if illegal where you live. This is perfectly legal in much of the world, including parts of Europe.

My wife got a letter from Verizon once, because, silly me, I was downloading from Kickass. I know in Germany you can get in real trouble for torrenting. In Poland torrenting is legal for "private use" as long as you don't share it - I know, real geniuses we have in our government, part of why I migrated.

So I've waited about 30 minutes or so, much longer after the backup completed. I still have a snapshot called XO_DELTA_BASE_VDI_SNAPSHOT. Am I able to delete it and it not affect the backup or is the delta based off of the snapshot?

Did you every get clarification on this? I suspect this is needed for the delta backup.

Yes, it uses the snapshots to make the backups. That's what I figured it was doing, but since Dustin didn't see it I thought maybe something was wrong.

We resolved it in another thread, I can't remember which one at this point.

Well... plug-in downloaded source, compiled, installed and activated.
In "Setting/Plugins" I can see now the "backup-reports" and "transport-email" plugins.
I made some simple test with "Backup Jobs" and all seems ok.

      Thanks guys.
