I don't post as much not because of how much I work, but what type of work I do. I always post like crazy when I have a desk job. But when I don't...I don't have the availability to post like I'd like to.

I've the same problem, it was cause by Bitlocker.

To anyone who's curious, in practice my impression is that it makes a HUGE difference. Processor performance on the 980 box is much MUCH better than on the power-strained TI box, which I'm sending back. When overclocked to the same speed, the TI box with identical settings hovers down below 2 Ghz most of the time while the 980 box is up above 4 most of the time w/ load. The disk performance ( same exact drive, just moved ) w/ rapid mode, which is very proc dependent is also much better on the 980 box, breaking 5 GB/s read/write. So, yeah, question answered. The 980 box is also quieter, which I adore. Good thing I don't play many games and the card difference isn't a huge deal, or at least I keep telling myself that.

Low latency trading is where I have seen it the most. The times are so low there that things like the width of a river causes noticeable problems for fiber lines!

Yes, it uses the snapshots to make the backups. That's what I figured it was doing, but since Dustin didn't see it I thought maybe something was wrong.

We resolved it in another thread, I can't remember which one at this point.

An Android box would work also. I got a cheap one about 3 years ago. It's still around here somewhere. I used to use it before I got the Chromecast. I got it and an air mouse for the tv and it worked pretty well. Here's a picture of the air mouse and the Android box. It's not the exact Android device, but it's similar.

We dont officially support them but charge for the time they bother us! They didnt want a full service with us. If they did they wouldnt have been in this mess in the first instance and they certainly wouldnt be allowed to unplug or touch servers/hardware without our say so!!!!

I think that it is a natural problem with making a paid add on to a free product, no matter how big the community is around it, the fact remains that the one commonality is that all of those people chose the product based on the point that it was free (and not open being okay.) While people who choose free things might buy other things, it's not a good starting point as a commonality. Making a point of doing sales solely to people who "weren't willing to pay for other things" makes little logical sense.

@RamblingBiped Sounds like a great idea! I may do that on the side, just to have it in my arsenal of "stuff that I've done"

When I've used it I do like VMWare workstation but I won't pay the license myself so use VBox instead.
