Ditto. But it still got stolen. I tried to use Google Pay and it was rejected, so I switched to credit card and used mine.

The local bank came up good for me though. I had the $$ back in my account a day later.

Ug bad website stealing cc info

Actually, it was a gas station here in town. Several other folks I know had something similar happen over a few days, so let's just say I won't be going back there, lol.

Someone has a skimmer on the pump you used

Except it was the inside card machine in this case, not the pump.

I just stopped in for a snack, lol.

      Sounds like an inside job.

No out of band management, no capacity for raid (besides Windows) or Linux MD (which I can't use Linux) oh and then a Windows 10 Pro license with it as well...

and what makes it a "server"?

My guess is the label, marketing or lead salesman.

Yeah, but what makes it even worse and I just thought about it is that 2 Western Digital "Compute" 1TB disks were sold with it as well, 3.5" spinning rust.

So yeah.... I'm done asking why and when it burns to the ground I'll take the beating, fix the issue, charge the customer and move on...

Sometimes that is all you can do, all the while shaking your head in disgust. I realized a while a go that some, if not most, people learn by pain. It could be physical, emotional, financial or all three at one time.

UGH, so tired of reading posts (on other boards) where multiple people reply with the same answer, sometimes a day or more later, without adding any additional info than previous posters!!

To top it off, there are only a handful of replies, so it is not hard to read the entire damn thread!!

      Not yet I haven't.

Oki doki. I spoke with multiple external Spectrum Business and home customers and they have been sporadic also.

Could be local to your region. I'm not sure where you're situated at.

      Northeast Ohio

Some Spectrum home connections are still having issue but it looks like Spectrum business is working things out as we have been stable for the last 35 minutes or so.

I ran a bunch of pings and tracerts but didn't see anything specific to where the exact problem may be.

      Shrinkflation anyone?

      spoon.jpg

I mean, it's less waste at least.....

True but it is kinda flimsy. Good for oatmeal and soups so far. Haven't tried ice cream yet.

That's dangerous with any plasticware unless it's already half melted.

Had some good spoons for my wedding a few years ago. Those things help up against some hard ice cream and boiling water (cannot remember the brand). Whatever you do, DO NOT buy Amazon Basic plastic ware. They cannot handle the heat of soup. Felt like I was in The Matrix. "โ€œDo not try and bend the spoon,...." I just tilted my head in amazement.

Good to know, most Amazon Basics items I've used have been great. My laptop/overnight Amazon Basics bag specifically is amazong.

Amazon Basic HDMI to DVI and DP to DVI cables have rocked and dirt cheap. Like you, I have had good luck with most of their stuff.

      no, dont have that either.

Then you're going to have a difficult time keeping anything dry in that basement.... Sorry.

A sump pump will work to drain water that gets to it, but if the water is coming in from all corners and not being directed to a single point (a basin) then you'll likely have issues forever.

I've eliminated low points around the foundation and built them back up to drain away from the house. and moved the downspouts a little higher off the ground to allow more drop to the run off.
All things that I hope will keep water out..

Which is why every house in Ohio has a basin and sump pump. I've changed more pumps than I want to think about.

Been there/here and done that too. UGH! Last one has been doing good for the last three years.

You had to what? Reinstall all drivers even for printers that were already installed?
Glad I havenโ€™t seen that hit me!

Oh yeah. It was a "oh today is going to be fun" moment. Initially I thought, because I had recently migrated to Serve 2019 for my print server, that I had messed something up. Just a coincidence though. One might argue that since I was using v3 drivers, I did in fact mess something up, but I remember having issue with them previously, and took to Xerox Tech Support to ensure I was using the drivers they recommend for the new build. Not to mention, some manufacturers don't even supply V4 drivers yet, and some OS's don't like em, from what I'm reading.

With the MS Aug Update, two of my v3 drivers no longer work on 2019. Been working on finding an updated driver that will work. A few v4 have issues, then there are a few v3/v4 drivers (using Windows Update for MS Digitally signed drivers only) that won't install because it keeps telling me access denied.

Setup a Windows 2016 server print server to test, all updates and all is fine so these issues are related to Windows 2019 as far as I can tell.

I received an email this morning
      29707aa8-c715-450a-8938-811977436021-image.png

anyone else heard of this EOL on copper pair?

Not that I have any - everything I have is Cox - analog over cable.

Yep, Century Link kicked us off in Feb with 30 day's notice. Scrambled to ATT and now paying $80 per line when we were paying $22.

Why did you stick with copper?

Stupid faxes and fire alarm. Like you, we get thousands of pages a month. Also, at the time we found out our fire alarm does not have a wireless option either. UGH. Just a crap show....

Then you have to ask... is it really a fire alarm? What happens when the fire takes out the cable? I'd leave any service like that. For a fire alarm, you need a certain minimum standard and this falls below any reasonable level of acceptance.

The alarm company calls when the signal gets interrupted after a period of time. Just like the would if the fire took out the router/fiber.

None of ours that had POTS was like that. They would call out. This is a direct phone line that is "always on" and talking? That's got to be insanely expensive.

Apologies. It wasn't a constant connection but more like a "ping." I don't know the technical details but if the alarm system discovered no dial tone after X seconds/minutes, then try line 2, wait X, if nothing for either, wait one more cycle, if none, set alarm system to beep for a few minutes and check. If still nothing, call client to let them know to fix situation.
