d Samsung Pay) are more secure methods of payment than a regular credit card transaction at a retailer? Convenience

I don't agree with Samsung pay, assuming they are using the magnetic field solution, because it's not a unique token approach, it just replaces swiping your card. (at least I don't think it uses a unique card number each time).

So either Apple or Android pay then?

    • RE: Why Job Titles Matter, and Don't.

I never understood why some have the engineer title. I guess times have changed but that used to mean one very specific thing and it had nothing to do with computers. Now programmers, network people, and just plain managers will have that title. It doesn't make any sense to me especially being so broad now.

@Dashrender I think this is a good point. Americans consider this traveling because it can be a really long way. Getting to just about any part of Europe, if you already live there, is trivial distance wise compared to us here.

Yeah thats what i install here. A lady here lost it when she switched machines and thenr equested it because she could never go back to the snipping tool after using greenshot.

some employees just can't do it - they can't stay on task while at home

But can they in the office? These are the same people who derail others in the office.

Studies show that people stay MORE on task at home. If we cared about people being on task, the office would have been ruled out long ago. So clearly, no one using an office is concerned with this, so this is moot.

Sure, a few people are useless anywhere, but the majority work better at home.

I'm 50/50, I prefer to work from home but with an option to work at the office.

why? because as scott mentioned you want company sanctioned waste time to talk to fellow employees? lol

Of course, why else would someone go to the office? Not that there are no reasons. But let's be honest, offices rarely have the nice desks, computers, monitors, chairs, etc. that we have at home. Plus you have to commute. When I worked in hedge funds, people openly talked about how they worked long hours to avoid their families that they didn't like. So there are clearly alternative reasons, and everyone wants a change of scenery sometimes, but you get that with WFH anyway as you can work anywhere.

      nice desk/chair - what?

I personally know no one who has a nicer WFH that was working from an office before Covid, than what they have at work.

Hell I only have one example of someone who comes close, and it's not as good - he has a dual monitor setup on a tiny 3 ft wide x 28 in deep desk he's working from... He has a reasonable chair, similar to what he has in is office.

I hate to say this but I have a much nicer wfh environment than my school will provide.

Looking to see if there's a way to list and removed IPs listed as attackers for FreePBX responsive firewall via the command line, before I put in a feature request.

The firewall does have a command line, yes.

That is true, and I can manage zones with it, but I haven't found a way to list IPs or remove IPs from the attackers list.

What's the use case where you want to do that?

Remove user IPs who have managed to trigger the firewall, and (as @NerdyDad mentioned) seeing what IPs I need to whitelist.

Whitelisting is different than blocking. I think you can see what is blocked the normal way...

      iptables -L

Tried that. Stuff that's blocked via the Responsive firewall isn't listed there. The only way I've been able to check for an IP that's labeled as an attacker is to grep the IP in /proc/self/net/xt_recent/ATTACKER

are you using something like Cloudflare to mitigate the number of your attacks?

    • RE: How to Troubleshoot - CompTIA A+ 220-1001 Prof Messer

@brianwinkelmann An organization of any size almost needs someone dedicated to documentation to do it right in my opinion. They might be able to get away with doing it half the time and some other role the other half, but one person will do it a lot quicker and standardized than everyone being responsible for their own documentation. Of course you have to have the right company culture for it. My work does not, no one wants to share what they did or how they do things. I think they just hack at it so much they dont want to share or take the time in the first place.

True, I like that a default is being added. But I've seen so many people burned by not learning vi over the years. Seems like setting people up a bit to make it "feel approachable."

Yeah its good that a default is being included but any Linux user needs to be familiar with most of the basic tools. vi is one of those tools in my opinion because it is so prevalent.
