@scottalanmiller said in Nethserver 7.4 install question:

I think the problem is selecting something. If you select nothing, Nethserver installs. I just did it, no choice needed and it installs the full thing.

Yep, that is the problem....selecting "Minimal Install" makes it a CentOS install, select nothing & all is good.

@scottalanmiller said in Small Restaurant Network Redesign:

The only piece that isn't super obvious is... what would be the best access method for remote management of the three non-HQ restaurant PCs? There are only a few machines, so maybe some service has a free tier that would cover this?

Or set up OpenVPN on the ERLs there and use that from the IT manager's workstation to connect ad hoc to a site to access the PCs over RDP? Or even simpler, just open RDP but IP lock it only to the four sites. RDP isn't that insecure on its own, people like to say that but it's mostly a myth. But add IP firewall locking to just the four restaurant or HQ sites and it's just as secure as any VPN, but really simplified.

      ZeroTier?

Duh, of course. Thank you. No idea why that didn't occur to me.

Haha, I figured you probably just forgot ZT.
Not to thread-jack, but I'm looking forward to using the new ZeroTier Edge devices

@fateknollogee woah wtf... when did they implement that?!?! That's huge!

According to the blog post, looks like Feb. 7th.
I need to pay more attention (or subscribe) to the Cockpit blog. I swear, every update, they're always adding some new cool feature!
Check out the "improved LVM volume resizing". The shrink operation now includes auto-unmount.

    • CentOS 7: eth0 down after reboot

Network configuration file in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ is set to 'ONBOOT=yes'
I still need to restart the network service after a reboot.

Anyone have any idea why this is like this?
I just did a clean install & this issue still exists.

The vm's boot up & grab IP addresses but you can't SSH even though the SSH service is running.
Once I re-start the network service then I can SSH in.

Adding this line (suggestion by Squeakz on #ovirt IRC) fixed the issue.
Each host has 4 nics, I only made the change on the first nic. When I tried on all 4 nics, none of them worked after reboot..

      Do not:

      1. use special characters in any of your passwords - letters & numbers only.
      2. hosted engine vm - assign static IP, no dhcp reservation.

Sounds like they are using KVM or another solution and using ideas to make improvements to Hyper-V

C'mon, you're going to quote an article from 2008.....you do realize we are in 2018?

Some of you guys are just ridiculous!!

Just yesterday, someone claimed you need drivers installed to run vm's in Hyper-V....where is that stupid face emoji !!
