@scottalanmiller It's pretty mature now. The feature set is minimal but works fine compared to some other options I've played with. If they added a few more features it would be golden.

I have my name and title and I think my cell phone in my outlook signature. We have 450,000 employees so there's times when I get emailed or email someone and they have no idea who I am. I don't have a signature on my phone.

    Hey @EddieJennings
That sounds fair to me 🙂 Can I ask you what are the most common tasks you and your team undertake in you day to day?

This is what we currently do for hourly phone system jobs.

Basically as long as you schedule it, you get the normal rate. Time of day doesn't matter.

Do you charge differently for on site vs. remote support?

No, but as I’ve said many times. We are not really an MSP. Strictly consulting.

    @CCWTech said in MSP Billing:

We currently are billing 25/computer/month and 65/server/month (if virtualized we don't count the 1st VM just hosting the hyper-v role).
Initially for remote support we gave clients an allotted hours per month based on the amount of computers/servers they had and billed anything over that. We found that almost all clinics never went over what we allocated.

We use the per/comp and per/server model as a basis for decision making, but don't actually price from that. We try almost all flat rate pricing, but it is determined by effort and adjusted over time, not by the size of the environment. We use size of environment to try to estimate effort, but it is very loose.

Because things like printers or AD are way bigger support factors than are desktop or server counts. And the apps being used make a massive difference.

Is there restrictions on headquarters location?

You can only have a point of presence where you are registered. So if you want an HQ somewhere but do no business there, that's generally allowed. For example, you can have a headquarters in Nicaragua while having no incorporation there, and be incorporated in Panama and have no staff there... but in setting up this way you are barred from doing business in either country, but are free to do business with any other country.

Another thing you could do is put all nextcloud data into s3. You could then run automatic updates on the instance. If the instance ever shits the bed you can automate rebuild and connect it to S3.

Essentially still doing server maintenance but with alot less time involved and better reliability for the client. Then you bill them as you see fit for the management value.

It's fairly inexpensive, too. Let's say about $20 a month for instance and $5.99 a month for a TB in wasabi.

Encourage to make indoor soccer, indoor tennis, volleyball, and basketball. There is enough empty space for both.

Southroads mall in Omaha, Nebraska USA enclosed a colo type business many many years ago.

Not a big fan of Amazon in terms of supporting the tax base, but still uses the roads. Sports courts and CoLo.

Hold the phone - someone else in Omaha area joined ML?

I considered Interworxs before mainly because of its cluster support. It is a stable control panel.
The truth is I am slowly moving out of the Control Panel thing (I am not a traditional shared hoster). I just have some servers with cPanel because some clients still want it

Yeah, we do commercial hosting and don't use it because it is costly and just cripples the service.

I'm looking at Authy for that reason. Haven't decided yet. So everything is sitll in Google Authenticator.

@EddieJennings said in Suggestion for books on MSP and others?:

@Pete-S I bought the digital version a while ago, but never got around to reading it.

Well, I just plowed through it. I like to do that to quickly get up to speed and then I'll go back later.

I'm not sure how useful the book is going to be for someone already doing MSP work. But on the other hand, seeing it from another persons perspective is always useful.

I'd be curious to see if there's information that could apply to a one-man operation / side job kind of thing.

Someone needs to write a Dummies Guide to... kind of book.
