RE: How did you get started in IT?posted in IT Careers
I did a traineeship (payed internship) in high school. Was working 2 days a week and at school the other 3. Went from hell desk to full sys admin for the firm before moving to my current job, Supreme Network Overlord for an ISP in Australia.

RE: Does VTP update the Description of vlans?posted in IT Discussion

It takes the vlan database of the server switch with the highest revision and sends it to every other switch in the VTP domain.Be careful though, VTP is a double edge sword.

Ugh. What a pain.
Yea, I had a client that we host their public DNS records. it was a pain to add TXT and SPF records to all his files.

You don't have to use A names you can keep to IP addresses. You can use the include argument as a kind of wildcard.
You can use MXtoolbox to check if your SPF record is correct. Just remember that some older DNS servers do not use the SPF type so you will have to use a txt record along with a SPF

@ambarishrh cheap storage don't mean good .. there's no SLA's on the site for example ... sounds a bit sketchy to me ..
Exactly. It's pretty easy to offer super cheap storage if you use 4TB WD Red drives in enormous arrays on RAID 6 in software RAID with heavy compression and dedupe and no backups.
But, but RAID is it own form of back up right? XD
