I was a Windows System Admin for a Small company(or IT Generalist as Scott would call it). I took my new job 2.5 years ago, and I am one of 3 mac Mac users for the company now. I have since drank the Kool-aid and I love my Mac, and converted my home stuff over. Windows and linux work just fine in their VM's. Welcome aboard!
@lakshmana You need to find an exchange that accepts your currency. I have advice if you are using dollar in the United States, but if I recall you are in India, so i'm not sure. I would seek advice from a trustworthy community for bitcoin in your region. I follow /r/bitcoin on reddit, maybe those guys could help you out.
Also every argument about how bitcoin is scary or used for illegal purposes also applies to paper cash, and I will bet most people who say it is just used for criminals also have a just in case $20 in their back pocket. For me it is nice having a little side money that can easily be used in an emergency in any country on the planet and not linked to any government or overseeing body and can not be taken from me.
Just my two cents I thought about buying when it was at $0.10 and I didn't Then it hit $200 a coin. So I said "I'm not doing that again, so I put my money where my mouth is and bought when it was $250 a coin. I buy $10-15 a week, nothing more than I am ok with loosing. Right now it is at $2,500 a bitcoin. I have bought a few things, but for the most part it is just a play hobby. I currently own .400 of 1 bitcoin. I know it could all go up in flames, but a 10 fold investment isn't a bad side hobby to have. I suggest everyone who wants to learn about it, buy in, but never spend more money than you would be ok with loosing.
I have no idea where they came from, but we bought a company that had these 4 foot tall enclosed racks on wheels in all of their field offices. they locked front and rear, and were big enough for a mouse, keyboard and monitor to sit on top. with a KVM inside the door. If you have the space, I loved these things. They were durable, enough to live in retail store back rooms, and easy to work on. Similar to this.

I used to use Trustwave for external PCI pen testing.
PCI compliance is an absolute joke. As are the auditors who charge money to "test" for compliance.
How to be compliant really quickly?
- Get second internet connection, All ports in blocked.
- Place PCI traffic onto that internet connection and isolate it on its own network.
- Ask to run the test, success, you passed.
External testing for low levels sure, but SAQ-B for a company that holds credit card numbers and does charges to recover losses to those cards is a whole different ball game. I took my job quite seriously.
I used to use Trustwave for external PCI pen testing. They were a solid meh. It let me fill in the box that we had been externally scanned for vulnerabilities from a third party on our self assessment. That being said if they found anything that needed attention they would never give any advice or talk with me, just hand me a report with a yellow or red dot on it, and tell me I can request another scan after updating my config. I'm assuming to cover their asses, but it was frustrating that they were so close lipped for the amount of money we were giving them.
Burgers, Beer, and Swimming tonight, then going to see John Mulaney tomorrow night in Springfield.
I used to use Watchguard and was happy with the results, but somewhat pricey.
@coliver said in You can't quit, you're fired!!:
@DustinB3403 Find me a reference then. Everything I've seen points to the opposite. You are employed at the will of the company and can be terminated for almost any reason, or no reason. It doesn't matter if you've put in your two weeks notice or not. For reference here is the NYS Attorney General's list of Employee Rights.
https://ag.ny.gov/labor/your-rights-employee
No where does it say protection during a transitional period.
Also in an at-will state here. You are paid for the hours worked, if your employer let's you go, they have to pay you for every minute up until that point, but once you are fired, quit or other wise not working, your pay ends. If there is another contract outside of that, that may be the case, but nothing exists on state labor laws. Typically, you only give your 2 week notice so when you use the place you worked on your resume they will mark you available for rehire, and give a positive review. If you bail with no notice they won't mark you for rehire, then using them as a reference can be difficult.

2 things drive me away from a vendor faster than anything. 1. If they make it hard for me to give them money. Require a PO signed and faxed over approving the...NOPE. I will find a new solution.
Just take a CC and you are off and running!
Tried to buy a product direct from VMWare once after they bought Shavlik. So I contacted them, and tried to give them money. It took a week, and 3 faxes... yes fax after 2010. I had to write my CC number on paper and fax it to them then wait for them to email me my software. I haven't spent a dollar with them since.

Vague pricing or requiring my personal contact information before giving me a ball park idea of what something will cost up front. If I can't compare prices before I reach out to vendors I don't compare that vendor.

I know that if I addressed the 'rock in the room' I would do a lot to address my issue.... Some days I drink two cups of coffee and then two - three 20oz bottles of Mountain Dew.
Not enough water or other - no really a water fan...
I like iced tea a lot as a sub for other flavored beverages. I drink mine unsweetened so as to get the most benefit. Also still going to have some caffeine in if you do black or green teas. Could soften the blow of coming off the stuff you usually drink.
I started brewing Kombucha to fill this role for me. Bubbles, flavor, but low sugar, low alcohol, low cal.
@wirestyle22 Your best bet is don't eat junk food, count your calories, and start walking. You don't need to worry about macro nutrients and strict workout routines for a long time until you have done the above for at least 6 months to a year. If you need any more than that, you need to sit down with a physician and work with them directly. There are 1,000 different diets, and ways to do it. There is not a best one one or right one, or a best practice, sorry. They all work, just find one you can stick too and do it, no exceptions, and give it a few months. You will feel better.
Also need to Mention this is a Microsoft Windows Environment.

Terraform
This is why I come here. I have researched Salt, Puppet, and Ansible, but I have never heard of Terraform.
It looks like I may be getting a new lab hardware at work, likely just a single VM Host that I have free access too. It will mainly be a C# CI build environment, with Git for source control, Jenkins, a few clean dev systems, and a tiny mock production environment, etc all as VM's. I would like to have my development systems defined in a script so they can be replicated, and all software and versions (.Net for example) stay in sync. What is this best way to do this? I am still in the brainstorming stage and just would like some input on how others would tackle this.

@s.hackleman My lower spine is not attached to my upper spine, the bones in my lower back that interlock the spine together are broken off and gone. I believe from injuries when I was a prison guard but it could be genetics. Been that way for awhile. It is just time for me to have the spine fused together to prevent further injury and nerve damage.
Dude....
