The title is nothing but a click-bait. Apple is not locking down batteries, it's displaying a message that it's unable to diagnose battery health, which is not surprising, since replacement batteries are probably lacking diagnostic chip that's present in original batteries. Your replacement battery will continue to work just fine.

Haha thanks, yeah I have 0 interest in reading an article about iPhones.

So we can assume most of your replies are ignorant?

      Regarding that specific article, sure.

Yes, but Apple has talked about actually locking out 3rd party parts before

Do you have source for that claim? I know they did that with fingerprint readers, but that was a valid move. They do make their hardware harder and harder to fix, but I don't recall any claims that they were actually blocking 3rd party parts, with some exceptions where it would compromise security, like with above fingerprint reader.

They could even claim 3rd party batteries are dangerous (they can be).

They are dangerous... to Apple's profit margin. They didn't spend a gazillion ad dollars creating their whole "pay more for it because it's what all the cool kids use" thing so you could save a few bucks on a battery replacement. I'm actually shocked that they haven't announced that installing 3rd party batteries voids your warranty.

Yeah I never cared for Apple's dictatorship-esque treament of their products.
Even down to OSX (or whatever it is now, is it XI yet?) or iOS, you're so restricted, it's like wearing handcuffs.
Apple makes me thankful for Microsoft's latest CEO being so open to utilizing various other third party vendors and creators.

A new POS software called HR POS (Formally MobileBytes) as we are no selling/ supporting this.

I'm sorry what? I keep falling asleep halfway just reading this. Haha 😛

I've been pretty closing to falling asleep a few times - I watched 1 ( 1 hour training) and had to slap myself to stay awake.

Oh god, hang in there! 🙂

We have our largest ticket pool still on that and it is surprisingly good. It really is amazing how few ticket systems really compete with it.

      Right?

@PhlipElder Finally, we're going to see an epic rise in AMD's market share (more so than the already growing trend).
AMD will be ryzing up epically!

I'm just waiting for an integrated AMD EPYC Rome single socket barebones that utilizes ESDFF .L with 32 bays to allow for 1PB in 1U or 2PB in 2U. We're not a SuperMicro fan here, so we shall see which vendor drops in first. 🙂

      Sounds dreamy 🙂

      That's what we are doing.

Are the lower runtimes essentially the equivalent to Windows Safemode?
Edit: Except I'm sure the Linux end is significantly more robust since Safemode is so damned restricted.
"OH NOPE, can't do that, sorry." lol.

I'm fine with this. Everyone gets screens and batteries replaced from questionable repair shops and the phones never work the same again.

Just because you're fine with it. Does it mean people should lose the ability to repair their own devices? Should the manufacturer of a vehicle only be able to work on that vehicle and solely corner the market on parts?

Great questions, but at the same time, I believe people can just buy another device if they don't like what Apple does.

Laws that prevent manufacturers from doing what they want are certainly ridiculous, not to get side-tracked.
While it's great being able to repair a device, I think a vendor should be able to do whatever they want to stay as profitable as possible.

Oh wow, great point, the graphic driver could be crashing, causing a remote disconnect. Nice
