    • RE: From 1 man show to more.

i can kind of see the benefit of a free/low cost employee, but i'm already in the "my time is precious" mode, so training someone up would just suck more time away from the tasks that i dont have time to complete.

    • RE: Reasons Against a Refurbished Server for This?

You want a reason against buying refurbished servers from xbyte? i've got one....

Because you hate having all that money, and you want to spend it on something!

that being said i have about 7 or 8 xbyte servers in the wild and LOVE THEM. service is much better than dell, @BradfromxByte is just a swell dude to work with.

    • From 1 man show to more.

Have any of you here started as a one man shop and grown to more? Have any of you been a part of the initial startup crew of a MSP/ITSP/WhateverSP. If so, what advice would you have for a proven one man shop that is having a tough time figuring out how to get over that first hurdle of becoming more than just a 1 man show.

      Hey, Thanks!

I've never really had a problem collecting from clients. I run on net 30, and my first meeting with a client (well the meeting where they choose me as their ITSP we go over mutual expectations. communication, payments, etc.

    • RE: Why haven't telcos moved to SIP/VOIP for home service?

i know that comcast, my isp, offers sip. when your power goes out......the routers have a battery in them :)telco doesn't go sip b/c telco is invested. the longer they can just maintain their current MOB, the better for them.

    • RE: Wireless point to point through glass

dude, go with your wireless bridge. I have atleast 10 of these setup in the wild for clients using ubiquiti gear from 200ish feet to 1ish miles without issue. as long as you have LOS, and since you're so close turn down the gain, you'll be golden. i'd roof mount, but since this is just residential and you're apparently just helping someone out who doesn't want to pay for internet (or you want to LAN game/share) the wifi will be your Cheap/easy/good setup.

    • RE: Wireless point to point through glass

yeah, they will work. you'd more than likely need to dial the gain way back that close. also, hopefully this is second floor to second floor line of sight? if not a truck/tree between the two could cause issues 🙂

    • RE: Anybody Else having Pertino Problems?

hey @Josh i'm not sure if your 100% correct about devices that were connected. on one of my networks i've got 14 of 47 devices connected, 15 or so of my offline devices are devices that were connected earlier in the day and haven't been rebooted. i've noticed pertino has been acting a little funky since this weekend. Can we get a little more info as to what's happening?
