ONLYOFFICE launched a new version of online document editors - ONLYOFFICE 5.2. The editors can be deployed on private network and integrated with Nextcloud/ownCloud.

In text editor

• Bookmarks
• Internal hyperlinks
• Content Control appearance options for making customized forms and templates
• Automatic numbering/bulleting
• New page presets: А0, А1, А2, А6

In spreadsheet editor

• A new tab - Layout
• Cell settings grouped on the right panel
• Printing parameters customization when saving files in PDF

Collaboration

• All comments and suggested changes related to a passage appear in the single popover window
• Each user now has individual color associated with their actions in co-editing

Well, the beta testing of ONLYOFFICE Android app was completed successfully, and the stable version is already available on Google Play with all the new features

The next step will be to add local docs editing (without connecting to ONLYOFFICE portal). There are a lot of requests to add the possibility to connect the app directly to Nextcloud. Hope that we will also be able to add that.

@emad-r this app can be connected to ONLYOFFICE cloud (corporate or free personal), or to the self-hosted version so that you can work with your files stored online. It does not work with NC, but thnx for the idea.

ONLYOFFICE has released version 5.1 of their desktop app for editing text documents, spreadsheets and presentations offline. The app is catching up with the online version and getting its new features, including:

• New tabbed toolbar;
• Navigation panel for Table of Contents in the left panel and export to RTF in the text editor;
• 11 new formulas and improved cell formatting in the spreadsheets;
• Special paste and presentation-level comments in the presentations.

The new toolbar is the main update here. What do you think of it?

Download from official website. The suite runs on Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, XP, Vista (x32 and x64), Debian, Ubuntu and RPM-based Linux distributions, Mac OS 10.10 and newer. It is also available as a snap package (for all Linux distributions supporting snapd) and AppImage.

we had that the file would be locked by user A and the user A would tell me that he didnt lock it and he did log out, the thing is the file would be still locked

if you use LOOnline with NextCloud, can you ALSO use OnlyOffice and run them side by side with one handling MS Office formatted documents and one handling ODF?

I asked our QA guys as I promised and that's what I learned: we tried this with Collabora (not LOOnline, but I think it would be the same) and ONLYOFFICE together, and while ONLYOFFICE associates itself only with OOXML files (docx, xlsx and pptx), Collabora grabs all the formats including ODF and OOXML. So, it's highly unlikely that will be comfortable to use them both at the same time.

oh, I'm not sure but maybe you are talking about the problem that I also encountered. Is it about losing data in spreadsheets in real-time when you could do no ctrl-z when somebody (or yourself) ruined some of the data? I lost some items from my media base shared with my teammates, but that happened ages ago.

Do you know that you can grant different access rights - read only, review and full access. You can also switch to a different co-editing mode - Strict in which there area you are currently editing is locked for the others

@jaredbusch well, I think LibreOffice online can be integrated with Nextcloud, but still Collabora is their official partner. For me, both have that open source spirit of freedom which I like, cause you know :smiling_face:

ONLYOFFICE is different from Libre, cause it uses docx, xlsx and pptx as basic formats, which is convenient if you work with these docs, just like my teammates and me. And believe the majority of docs exist in these formats, so I guess this office suite might be useful for many) I also like its collaboration tools (and I can speak about it for so long, so I won't :zipper-mouth_face:)

@scottalanmiller well... we were asked by the members of ownCloud community, who said that ONLYOFFICE editors and ownCloud is the match made in heaven, and we got many other requests that sound really inspiring. But now we can see that interest for NextCloud is way bigger. We are doing this integration too

@Veet I've heard of eXo Platform too! Is it good? I also remember that they have OnlyOffice add-on for document editing
