      Better to replace the thing so soon as the current support agreement runs out.

      Not sure I agree with even that - replace with UBNT now, toss a spare on the shelf, and have less worries, concerns going forward.. no waiting on the cisco repair crew.

      I think you can afford 10 spares on the shelf not just one.

      Software for it is lacking atm, they made major change to SBC arch so i advice you try something else.

      I knew the name for it, but you know i live in Canada and Canada made it legal and i work alot and its the end of the week so i will not remeber that name for the better SBC tonight

    • RE: is k8s a hypervisor ?

      @Obsolesce

      Here how it resembles:

      It manages network level via "plugins"
      nodes can join in (like hyper converged)
      it can run apps on nodes and scale them
      there is an option to store data and be stateful thus managing storage

      You know a new breed of hypervisors ... container level

      Yeah change it to CF which acts as reverseproxy and then any future changes will be instant.

    • is k8s a hypervisor ?

      well container-based, especially if we think about LXD as one and that coined the term Type-C hypervisors.

      sadly I can't drag my thoughts like another person here and make it 1000 lines yet still meaningful, but you get the point, I think it is hypervisor...

      @Florida_man

      Not really, I'm severely lacking in IT certs but I'm doing fine in Canada, Toronto nearly 100K salary range.

      Just be walking portfolio, and have projects that you can demo and ace the interviews like I have a domain with a lot of my work publically available, and I tell them if they want to research me go to ML and read my posts ๐Ÿ™‚

      Also Im new to Toronto, been here for 4 months

      And the vibe im getting is they want people with experiance and not certs, but hey i follow SAM ideas and concepts closely, so he said this many times when you have family or friend that has IT thing make project out of it and document it and mention it, get your hands dirty you know, but credit that. That said Im the type that go home and work on my shit and experiment with new tech nearly everyday or week at least. So YMMV

      This works only if you can get past the HR goons. Which is the world that Scott and his level of experience gain him. His skill/knowledge is that that he's often being recruited, he's not sending in resume's looking for a job.. so I don't consider his experiences the norm.

      True, next time be nice with the HR, try to find something in common and stop talking IT with them and befreind them on the phone ;), I am so informal in this phone interview stuff, first I start format till they say anything... anything outside of the scope and I take that and let the dragging stories game begin.

    • RE: Hypervisors: revisit your choices!

      @FATeknollogee

      You should consider new comer LXD to the mix, especially if your just running Linux VMs.

      Like everyone used it say nothing wrong in it, and fully featured and impressive it just not battle-tested as much as KVM, but still its very futuristic. I would go with KVM standalone and use RHEL or RHEL variant for it.

      Youtube Video

      I know maybe many already know this, but I like it.

      So the plan is instead of cloud-init that is made for the cloud naturally if you have standalone KVM, you can install Ubuntu OS and keep it light and up-to-date, then shut it down and make clones + sysprep them and thats it. Also you can use it to install pkg or run command but it is not feature rich as much as cloud init

      It is, i added it even by IP and by hostname.

      I wonder if this is related that i am running AWX in docker mode and if that is affecting it.

      Btw do you know to install AWX without docker ?
