Isn't this how the piratebay worked for so many years? It kept moving it's data to countries where there were no pirating laws or where laws were lax?

What's up with all those deleted posts?
He thinks he is proving that you can delete posts that you own. But that was never discussed and of course, you can.
In theory, but how many data service providers do you think keep all the data on the back end and just remove the links to the front end display?

RE: SW rant timeposted in Water Closet
Explain this to me, let's say I have a computer repair forum. I do not block any countries at all, so everyone in the world that can access the site, can sign up. Let's say a user from Africa signs up, let's say Africa has a certain law about the internet forbidding some kind of content that is on my website. How does Africa enforce it's laws on me here in Texas (United States?)

RE: SW rant timeposted in Water Closet
Tell google that. . .
So mangolassi.it isn't accessible in Spain?
If it is, then you can be forced to comply with the laws of that country. Period.
I don't think it works that way.....

Change this:$data[0] | Out-File -filepath C:\temp\chip\whois_data.csv -appendto
$data=$data -join "," $intLastChar=$data.indexof("DNSSEC")+2 $data=$data.substring(0,$intLastChar)That converts $data to a string (separated by comma), finds "DNSSEC" and adds two to it (to remove the leading comma), and then tosses out everything extra.
I believe that's going to work, testing more now. Thanks!

Oh, I missed that. How odd to want to close it after a few years.
Some people can only take so much.
But you just... don't log in. it implies that he's been logging in and lurking for two years?
You know how some people are paranoid. I was looking through old posts here last night and saw where Dennis Kelly as asking to remove his account here. I don't know exactly what paranoid people think will happen if they leave their account open though.

Can we implement something like the daily challenge here as well?
That would be bad ass, but we would need competent people to review the entries.

I won't be posting over there either, I will probably keep doing the daily challenge, but that's it.

It already outputs everything to a file, that's the issue, it outputs everything, and I don't want anything after "DNSSEC"

Powershell issues with splitting or trimming data in a $stringposted in IT Discussion
I have team member who needs a powershell script to pull from a list of 3500 domains, and get the whois data for each and output to a CSV he can do filtering and pivot tables on. I am using the whois.exe tool from sysinternals to pull the data into a $string and I am trying to trim all the data out of the string after a set of characters and I can't seem to get it to work using .split or .trim. It always just outputs the entire returned results. Any ideas?
CODE:
$domains = Get-Content C:\temp\chip\domains.txt
foreach($domain in $domains)
{
$domain | Out-File -filepath C:\temp\chip\whois_data.csv -append
$data = .\WhoIs.exe $domain.split("DNSSEC:")[0]
$data[0] | Out-File -filepath C:\temp\chip\whois_data.csv -append
Write-Host "Query complete for" $domain

That's not really a good argument.

I am going to have to agree with Scott on this, I would much rather see Consultant than Freelance. To me, freelance sounds like that guy who fixed his friends computer in the late 90s. The term just doesn't come across as professional sounding to me.

In your final - loos the boarder around the skills - nearly all resumes are digitally scanned and coded for key word searches. Boarders screw it up and you may get lost on a good position.
Any formal education - should also be listed. This isn't being negative - just not knowing your past... do you have any other experience? if possible - can you go back more than five years?
reallllyyyyy.... good to know, i have borders all over my resume.....

SW rant timeposted in Water Closet
So, it's been a slow steady decline of the past few years, but I am on my last nerve with spiceworks.
There are several factors to my frustration, for example people asking for PCI compliance help because they are getting fined and "IT Experts" respond with statements like "You can't get fined for not being PCI compliant." It seems like the intelligence level of the active community has been greatly reduced over the last 5 years.
Another thing that is putting the last nail in the coffin for me, is the shitty censorship. That David guy, the community mod, is the worst mod I have ever seen, not only in SW, but like ever. He deletes/censors posts arbitrarily. It's obvious there are some posters that can say anything they want, and not have their post removed. They can refer to people who get offended by anything as a "safe space pansy," but if you say they seem "triggered," then your post will be removed.I am done with it, glad there is this place where I can still rant once a year or two and not have it censored.
