RE: Ubiquiti Unifi Key needed?
@NashBrydges said in Ubiquiti Unifi Key needed?:
Yeah no key needed and no license. I'm running mine locally on a Ubuntu VM but I'm finding that after updates and reboot, the damn mongo db tends to corrupt so I have to run the db clean up to get it fixed. A pain in the ass that I'm told can be completely avoided if you use the CloudKey instead.
The only issue I had was with this last kernel update that came out Monday, but if you looked at the forums they had a workaround same day, and a fix published Wednesday.

Debian/Ubuntu Kernel Update breaks Unifi Controller
I ran into this issue yesterday where a kernel update kept Unifi controller from starting on my machine.
The fix is documented here:

If it's off domain, you have to perform a couple quick extra steps that can be put into a script.
I've never tried to use RSAT over a WAN, seems like a bad idea
I use it over a vpn to our office in OKC... it works a little slow, but it works.

The third part talks about how to connect to non domain joined HyperV.

About to install Korora on my new laptop.
Had to wait until bestbuy opened to get a USB-C to USB 3.0A adapter. -
RE: Age of Empires Definitive Edition
I used to play original AoE with my friends over a 56K modem. You knew shit was about to go down when it got so laggy you couldn't do anything.

@scottalanmiller Ah, I didn't know that was the name of the protocol. Yeah, I know the PSTN isn't secure, which is one the reasons why I was questioning the actual value of having that connection between my PBX and Twilio secure.
Depends on what you want the security to do and what legal protections you want and whose responsibility you want it to be and so forth.
I have fully encrypted calls between my desk phone and FreePBX instance on Vultr using standard SSL. Not using a specific VPN setup like IPSEC or OpenVPN.
I need to get this added to my guide.
I'd like to see the setup for that.

Does anyone have a UPS for a desktop computer they like? Is there something that comes with the software to do a graceful shutdown of a computer if it's going to run out of battery?
Just any random piece of shit consumer UPS will be fine to handle the basic blackouts.
I never plug in a UPS to control a desktop shutdown.
Just let it die. There should not be anything intelligent on there that could be lost.
You say that now,... but spend 3 hours owrking on a spread sheet and losing it due to a power outage.
ctrl + s ... it's your friend.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
@EddieJennings We'll see. I've had a macbook for years with a glossy screen, shouldn't be a problem.
