      Good luck!

      Go forth and conquer.

mind set - you are a full time employee right now, you my not realize it. your job is getting a job. Even if it isn't where you want to go (do we ever know were that is?) each job is experience and a place to step off to the next one.

I've actually never done the resume tailoring thing. I always just made one strong one and stuck to it. But I never went for IT & sales as two different jobs either.

Looks like the process produced something really good, The final product looks tight and easy to skim but full of useful information.

Less than 24 hours after sending out the newly revised resume, it's already gotten me one callback!

Thought everyone would be excited to know that the resume you all helped me write awhile ago, especially with the help of @scottalanmiller , @gjacobse and a couple others, was used to interview for an IT job this week. When reading the resume, the guy actually at one point said "Wow...you're not an entry level technician..." to which I tried to be humble about it and I said "I've done a lot of different stuff". I should be hearing from them soon. The guy who interviewed me is the owner, and I'll be following up Monday, considering he was out of town for a couple days this week. But I wanted to give a HUGE THANK YOU to the entire MangoLassi community for helping me in this regard!!!

This feels way too long. You should be at one page. How many is this turning into?

I go through résumés every day and that was my first thought was "damn this is too long." Me personally, I like it when major or niche skills are summarised with background in some manner and then you can detail it after that. I've never been good at writing résumés and ironically I've never gotten a job because of mine (studying nuclear science isn't really helpful to IT or programming) so I can't really be directly helpful other than as someone who does hire and fire: be more succinct. I have literally no more helpful advice.

Edit: Your PDF you posted is a lot better, I like that. Good work and good luck!

In today's market - you want someone reading your resume to be captivated from the start.. A resume is a sales pitch and as such, you have a limited amount of time to get the interest of the person reading it.

Appearance needs to be balanced, no large amounts of white space, not to long, and achievements and skills at the start. Try not to duplicate skills, even if you have done the same task at four places.

I had 'some fun' creating flash words of sorts... but it was also a pain.

Yeah, the goal was to get it down to one, solid and strong page. That's what we did. It's quite strong now, me thinks.

Also, the job I applied for, the owner is a friend of a friend. Someone he used to work with. He was kind enough to send an email for me to the guy and recommend me. I'll be calling the guy I interviewed with tomorrow to follow up!

Amazing what some resume tweaking can do.
