In an effort to solve Outlook going offline when a Windows 10 1709 computer goes to sleep, I changed the system to go to sleep after 3 hours using the modern Power and Sleep applet. As most of you know, there is save button on any of these screens, it's just assumed when you change them they are saved on the fly.

So today my user goes to lunch - and as you can guess, the machine went into sleep mode as confirmed by the event log.
I checked the modern power applet and it had returned to 30 mins. /sigh.

So today I used the powercfg.cpl (the old power control panel applet) to set the computer to sleep after 3 hours. I then checked the modern applet and it still says 30 mins, confirmed that the old applet did still say 3 hours (it did).

Rebooted and checked again, old applet was correct at 3 hours, the modern incorrect at 30 mins.

While writing this I wondered if I might have a GPO that's causing the modern app to stay at 30 mins.

Looks like I do have a GPO setting to 30 mins.

        Updating GPO now.

I was going to say, I added a GPO to turn sleep off when on power and it reflects in the new settings app.

I got about half way through the OP and all flags went up to GPO. I know because when I took over at my current job there were GPOs here that I didn't know about and was burned for a few weeks.

Sometimes just making a post reminds you of things to check.

And reading posts also reminds you - which is why I left this post and didn't delete it.

Also Windows 10 1709 does have an issue with laptops where you cannot modify the sleep times and such properly. There was a post in 🌶 about it, I think you were involved.
