Be able to lock it down so he can only use the School Apps etc ?

If you use Chromebook tablets, there are no apps conceptually by default. And there are regular user accounts.

      :man_facepalming_light_skin_tone:

Wanting to use only Free fully functional recovery software means your data is not valuable to you.

I have recently tried the following data recovery tools:
      Piriform Recuva
      Cgsecurity Testdisk

On a formatted partition with good results. But some files were corrupted or lost.

There are many more free programs most are a cut down version of a commercial package.
A few recover a limited number of files for free or show you what could be recovered if you Pay for a license.

Based on my experience, though those tools are paid, they are more professional and find more good results than free ones.

      I would recommend to you:
      iBoysoft Data Recovery
      EaseUS
      Disk Drill

Please note that If you look for an unformat option if you have not written to the formatted partition since it happened (although windows will write to the drive anyway ). Because how successful they will depend on how much has been written to the drive since formatting. Therefore, you'd better use another hard disk eg USB, SATA, or over a network to a hard drive to recover the data.

This post will be helpful: https://iboysoft.com/data-recovery/recover-data-from-formatted-hard-drive.html

Moreover, depending on the value of data ask for professional help or carry on recovery yourself.

Since you are connected to the printer via USB. Disable plug and play. And then delete all those extra printers.

I'm sure there's some degree that it's different, because Tablets memory and Storage is no where close to a Desktop PC. but it the OS runs the exact same.

The fastest computer in my house is a tablet. Intel i7 9th gen, 16GB RAM, NVMe storage. Way faster than any of our laptops or desktops.

Tablet is just a shape and while they can't contain the power of a giant gaming rig, they can do anything a laptop or normal business desktop can do. It's literally just the shape.

@Dashrender said in what is automation? How does it work?:

There are multiple ways to get automation. Simplest might be to write a script that copies files and execute that script using Task Scheduler (a windows service that allows you to execute tasks based upon a specific schedule).

Thanks - Got more information now:
I need to be able to automatically send a folder to compressed zip.
Then automate the import and publish.

The more information I get the more confused I become about all of this.

The first step to automating a task is defining how you would do it manually. Start there. That doesn't mean the automation will just copy that, but it helps to understand what you are doing today, before you figure out how to do it automatically tomorrow.

      Do it here?
I mean, That's fine with me.

I would make a new thread about that specific task, and you could toss a link in here to that.

How do you Export/Import Sites into new controllers ?

Never mind I figured it out.

I went into "site" settings , In the bottom left corner there was "export site" option.
Click on that, download the backup file,
create network on other Controller, then import site.
You can then (if you have a domain set up) migrate the AP to that Controller.

I didn't have this issue; I installed and it's working properly, can view, and edit the AP .

I'm pretty sure you can install the management studio on any computer. Doesn't have to be on the computer that actually has the SQL server installed.

That's correct. SQL Studio requires Windows, but SQL Server does not. So we sometimes do that, as well.

Yes or a 64-bit Windows 10 with a new version of Management Studio, managing an older 32-bit Windows 7 SQL Server install 🙂

Literally just got off of a meeting where we put the last piece in place for our first in house POS system, BTW 😉

      i'm interested.

Not for hospitality industry. But this is our first foray into POS and crossing over industries in the future is obviously very possible.

you made it for the Vets?

      Yes

You guys should look into making pharmacy software, you could likely make a killing, and be light years ahead of the seemingly junk crap that's out there now.

That's a great idea. And my family is all pharmacists, so we have like endless direct access to resources.

I really don't know the requirements for the interconnectedness - which this are... but yeah, so many of the systems are just old as F.

HP sure in the heck isn't local in Omaha, they hire contractors to go to businesses to replace motherboards, etc for the onsite component.

NTG got much of its early business being those "local" guys for HPE, Dell, etc.

And funny enough... even being the "local guy" meant that our Rochester, NY guys covered like eight states. When those big companies are sending their "local guy", they are driving hundreds of miles much of the time unless you are in a huge city.

@Dashrender said in Windows 10- Cant Connect to this network?:

I have seen specific devices have a hard time getting/staying connected. My old Lenovo laptop had this issue. Replacing the wireless NIC solved the problem. Others I've updated the driver and it solved, and yet others never resolved. Recommended solutions at that point were - replace the AP, replace the laptop/device.

I didn't mention updating the AP, but I suppose that should be mentioned.

Agreed, this is more likely to be hardware or driver related, than to be Windows 10 related.

      update:
      https://i.imgur.com/L6U1LJA.png
The tablet connects to the Network, with a Static IP of 192.168.128.103
the Ip of the AP is showing as 192.168.2.41 ..

      But it is connected..
      is that normal??

sure, it can be. All depends on the routing.

I assume you have the AP connected somehow to the second port on the ER-L, and that it's getting DHCP from that, but that same switch also has a connection to the secondary NIC in your Server, so the static IP'ed traffic can get around on that. You've kinda created a bridge between the networks via the AP, and if the password is the default, that could be a problem.

      password is not default.

Good for you, you've never seen a bullet point list. If you're writing complete sentences as bullet points you're doing something wrong.
