@dafyre said in Five Reasons Why Rolling Distros Are Better:

I've had OpenSuse Tumbleweed actually bork my laptop so I had to wipe & reload it... That's my only reserve about rolling distros.

Was it the rolling that did it?

Sadly, yes. One of the updated packages broke my video drivers (Nvidia Optimus / Bumblebee drivers) and they would recompile to fix it... The Last straw for me was the next update I ran a week or so later updated the Kernel and caused the video to flash incessantly unless I had an app on the screen that was using the NVIDIA GPU. It was odd...

I wiped and did a Mint 18 install after that, lol.

Edit: I do know the flashing video bug has been fixed.

Any reason to use LMD instead of or in addition to rkhunter?

Doesn't rkhunter focus only on root kits?

Mostly, but this was the first time I remember hearing about LMD.

@scottalanmiller Also, using just using the root domain name for the conf file name is potentially confusing depending on how much you are hosting.

Even for my gaming website, I have a bunch of sub domains setup.

www.daerma.com.conf goes to the root and www.
      oc.daerma.com.conf is owncloud
      obelisk.daerma.com.conf is my nodeBB forum

That does not even get into what do you do about the ones that you have multiple TLD names for such as .it, .com, .org, etc.

@DustinB3403 said in SMTP is Email so what is the mail you get from logging?:

So the alerts are meant to be delievered via SMTP, therefore they are "email files" without the SMTP portion. Hence they are email.

There is no such thing. You can't just call all text files "email". If you do, literally everything is email. So the term is now lost. Go pick up your email from the dry cleaners so you can be home in time to eat your email for dinner.

hahahah I laughed way to hard when I read that on my phone!

      Scotty! More power!

Lots of powerful ARM devices out there these days.

Nvidia's shield? Bet that would run some containers with ease.

It would, for sure. I have the top end Shield and that baby has some serious power. Several cores, integrated GPU, 3GB RAM.

Replace Fedora distro ISO downloads with Fedora Media Writer. Instead of simply downloading an ISO, this multi-platform tool automatically downloads the installation ISO images and use them to create a bootable USB drive or DVD disc.

They already have that. Hopefully you can still download the ISO.

@Romo said in Lookin for best method to create a network bridge CentOS 7:

@stacksofplates Another quick question, it is better to create the bridge from the os network utils instead of relying in virtmanager to create it right?

That all depends. Macvtap is quick and dirty. Also has the benefits of not allowing network access between the host and VMs (can be a benefit or a hindrance depending on your scenario). If you want Full access across the bridge, then you'll have to manually create it.
