It has OpenSSH. If you had only telnet, someone decided to just leave it wide open. VMS Admins are hard to find and always were.

I didn't take well to OpenVMS, mostly because near the end of my time there in 2002 they tossed it at me. We have already downloaded Fedora 23 and started testing it in the lab. openSuse Leap is high on the list of things that will be in heavy use in the NTG Lab. Can't wait for our new cluster to be up. Leap will likely be the first thing that we get installed.

We moved to a different Linux choice and Fedora 24 released. So closing this out as unneeded.

Fedora Server now gets a new feature called "cloudtoserver" that enables a cloud image to be pulled back into a server.

It works pretty good. The colors are awful to me, lol... So I'm going to figure out how to tweak the theme a tad. VIM status line is nice, as-is the screen and tmux status lines as well.

I had one of these (older model) Of course only had a one year warranty and at 13 months it starting having a problem where it would not power up. sometimes unplugging the battery would do the trick, but that required using a torq driver to remove the bottom.

I have no desire to ever own one of these again.

I really wish that I could easily be on Linux 100% instead of Mac OSX, but I'll never learn Mac OSX well if I don't stick to it 😞 I do have VirtualBox 5 running the latest Linux Mint 17.2 on it and that runs pretty well. But type 2 VMs are just never snappy like a native desktop is 😞

True, they are starting to base it less closely now that Fedora has some additional testing that RHEL doesn't want to role in. SystemD is part of what caused this to change in RHEL 6. It's basically the same, still. Even if they based off of Fedora initially, it eventually skews as Fedora stops getting updates many, many years before RHEL does.

Been working on Fedora 21 pretty heavily for several days now. So far so good, no issues at all. We use Fedora as our development platform so mostly coding on it.

I will be updating my Fedora 20 development server as soon as Fedora 21 is available.
