Comparing IT Buyers and IT Pros

Unbelievable timing on this. Recorded in early December, and uploaded and scheduled last year (I have about a two month lead on uploaded videos) but the timing could not be more coincidental given the content. However, I think that the content is very important shows how much thought and analysis had gone into predicting some problems that were experienced in some communities this past week and how it could have been prevented by not trying to lump both of these groups together as if they were all one.

Not sure if this is a dumb request or not. I would be happy to "Self ID as a Buyer" on the Mangolassi forum. Would their be any advantage to this? I am not even sure I would reach "Buyer" level. Can you add an indicator or flag?

We COULD add a flag. Actually, that's not all that bad of an idea. Give a way for buyers to flag so they can be "I'm here to learn WHAT to do and WHAT to get, less HOW to do it and HOW to get it." or something like that. Give people nearly instant context that might be helpful.
Do you think that that would actually be helpful for some?

What if you are both? lol

That's a hard aspect of it, there is almost always overlap. Not always, but especially in the SMB there is often quite a bit. Any SMB IT Pro will have to buy regularly. Many buyers do IT work on smaller scales so as not to have to go through the process of buying something simple.

Yeah, I am an IT pro that has to buy.

Maybe change your flag depending on the type of question you are asking??

Okay, your first idea of flagging as a buyer - that I can do in ten minutes. Not sure it makes sense, but it might. I'm trying to noodle it around. The second idea of doing it per thread or topic... really hard

At some point, all pros have to buy sometimes. Heck even General Motors buys some of their parts from the outside!
