Seeking advice on a Bid/Quote to a client

@scottalanmiller The 2TB drives I got were about $180 a piece, but they are quiet, and I get good performance out of them. At the time I was purchasing, the Reds were a little more expensive.

Just checked Amazon quickly:
WD Green 2TB: $80
WD Red 2TB: $100Might be worth staying Green. That's a 25% increase.

Last major quote I did, I took what I though it would take me and doubled that number. Just told that customer that this particular part of the quote would be seperate and subject to change, which it did, and turned out to be half of the quote because I over-padded
They were happy as they thought they got a helluva deal, I was happy because I was able to do the work in less time than I had planned and still got paid well.

There should be a special word to describe the warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you finish an IT project in less time than you predicted. I just wish I felt it more often.

But it wasn't their misfortune, they still paid way less than I could have charged and they let me get some experience I hadn't gotten yet. It benefited both parties.

I will double check with the vendor on the drive costs but I do believe it was close to this. That is why I specified Green.

If that's the case that shows they get a good long life out of those licenses, I'd definitely go with the OV instead because you will more than likely have to deal with reinstalls, and the value spread over 8+ years (yeah I know 2003 came out 11 years ago) the cost is pretty darned low.
They do have Office 2003 now. They do not care about any other benefits. They also disagree on the cost over time with machine updates and will go with the key cards. /shrug I tried.

I use a preferred vendor unless the difference is more than 5%. Then I still might, but it will be a tough call.
