@scottalanmiller why install a proxy when Apaches here and working what is the benefit to having a proxy on the same server. Let’s Encrypt perfectly with Apache

Security and flexibility typically. Here is the admitted marketing material from Nginx on security: "Security and anonymity – By intercepting requests headed for your backend servers, a reverse proxy server protects their identities and acts as an additional defense against security attacks. It also ensures that multiple servers can be accessed from a single record locator or URL regardless of the structure of your local area network."

is there a system that can display tags in a way that would look like folders to the user? Like a way to change your view to see the files organized by tag 2 instead of tag 1? I use this perspective change all the time in SQL, and I would love something equivalent in a file system using tags.

There is a way to write a system to do that, but no one makes one today.

well get on that @scottalanmiller, the world is apparently waiting

I guess so! Time to reinvent the local filesystem abstraction!

      It really is needed.

Agreed... though - is there any money in it?

It would be an open source project, sadly. Sadly meaning, no, not any money in it.

what about fame and recognition? πŸ™‚

      I already have that πŸ˜‰

      what's +1 more?

Yes, that's one of the biggest issues... that it is confusing. The average American has to maintain a level of insurance expertise that is completely out of scope with their knowledge, experience and expertise in other areas.

That seems to be purposeful. So that insurance and providers can double bill or otherwise extort as much money as they can.

No doubt there. And so that people will give up and just pay more rather than figuring out how to be affordable.

I'm seeing twenty somethings living at home far more today than when I was that age. I don't think that it was all that normal fifteen years ago. Not sure if it is normal now, but I'd say more normal, at least.

And now we see it closing in on 20K views. Why this thread? I have to know, lol.

Because it was marked as having a new reply. Have to make sure our internet is actually stable around here by keeping up with all the news, new or not!

Up to 40K now. So weird.

@scottalanmiller earlier was mentioning differentials vs incrementals.

I wonder if the terms still apply, or if the industry at large has dropped the two terms and simply moved to the use of incrementals.

Pretty big deal... if you delete a differential nothing bad happens. Delete an incremental and you have a disaster...

I'm still young within my IT career, so it's not going to be possible for me to craft an impressive, look-at-what-all-I-have-built-and-managed resume and have that resume be connected to reality at this time.

It is not about age or time in the field. I had a resume better than most people with 10-15 years experience less than 3 years in the field. Find the right job (Consulting for a partner/VAR/MSP) and this can change VERY VERY quickly.

And focus on your lab, and what’s missing from your resume.

      I disagree

Good for you, you've never seen a bullet point list. If you're writing complete sentences as bullet points you're doing something wrong.

Oooh, ok. That's the difference then. Must be for a different use. With Alfresco, each time you upload a change, it's saved as a version (major or minor). Then you can restore to versions, see edits made by users with timestamps and some other info.

Right, its even more granular. You can go back versions to individual document components.

@scottalanmiller Always loved CS Lewis's quote on this.

It is a mistake to think that Christians ought all to be teetotallers; Mohammedanism, not Christianity, is the teetotal religion

Actually, alcoholic beverages are forbidden in Christianity. In all of the many different Bibles, old testament and new. The problem is that people see "wine" and think of it as today's alcoholic wine...

And it was. The word used had no other connotations. It's both the word used, and the only one that makes sense in context.

BREAKING: Senator Chuck Schumer says there will be a Senate Vote to overturn the FCC's ruling on Net Neutrality -- Only a simple majority will be required to overturn the ruling.

Sadly, he needs a majority but the R have the majority and don't want to vote against the companies that have them in their pockets. And there is no point to doing so as this was Trump's boi in the FCC and Trump has veto. So while CHuck is doing a good thing, it won't make any difference.

It's posturing. Seems more like he knows it won't work and is just prepping for 2018 at this point.

He and Booker are top considerations for president so, very likely.

Oh, and "water cooler" time is good for generating trust and forming bonds within teams, which is essential.

My experience is that it does the opposite. It creates cliques and promotes the idea of promoting for socialization rather than for results. I think good, skilled workers who want promoted based on merit see it as sowing distrust... a mechanism for those that aren't as capable or as ethical to avoid work while "schmoozing" the bosses.

Yes, if you want bad employees to trust each other, it's good. If you want to have employees you can trust to protect your business, it's bad.

Never bothers me like that. Not at all, in fact it's one of the mildest meals that I can eat.
