@scottalanmiller I got to see the Pixel. I still would prefer the newest HP 14" Chromebook though, speakers sound better than the rest I have seen. Acer's touch capability is nice, but that's not something I need nor want on a laptop right now. That's why I own a tablet.

So many people on my FB feed post bogus links to things. It's so annoying. Verify stuff before you pass it on. Is that so hard?

So many people prefer to post than to be accurate. All they care about is sensationalism, I actually think that they like it when it is crazy because it gets more attention.

Android is too "free" for its own good. People are free to have it not work and no vendor is making sure that you get a reliable experience.

LOL... OHhh this is toooooo true!

It's really true. It makes it amazing for hobbyists and people for whom entertainment value and flexibility rule. But for professionals and people who need a rock solid phone experience, it fails.

@dashrender They all limit bandwidth, or are very slow in my area. It's really not the end of the world I can still stream shows and such, but it's either download, stream, game, OR work/internet.

There are a few challenges. Inside the phone they have to switch from batteries to high longevity capacitors to make it work. There is a lot of research going on to make that happen, but it alone is a big hurtle.

As long as the server side doesn't suffer the horrible security flaws that the desktop does - What difference does it make what the back end runs? I don't really want an answer, it's just a thought exercise.

In the US it is illegal to disclose those things. So denying it means nothing, sadly.

@Bill-Kindle Not so much apathy as the impacted people have little clue where to go and how to resolve. Seems you can get one "cause" per year with Syria, North Korea, MH370, "the economy", and other issues...not much remaining bandwidth for outrage.

Security != convenience, else people would've jumped en mass to MSFT's own EMET ages ago—

I think that they remain pretty tough for developers still too. Although a more traditional Linux desktop will be great for that. Mint, OpenSuse or Fedora make awesome development workstations.

Yes... Relinquishing it to the NSA.

If the NSA is the global community......

"U.S. officials set strict conditions and an indeterminate timeline for the transition from federal government authority, saying that a new oversight body must be created and win the trust of crucial stakeholders around the world, officials said. An international meeting to discuss the future of Internet is scheduled for March 24, in Singapore."
