Thank you all for your thoughts on this, given me a bit to chew on.

I especially enjoyed the comparison to manufacturing - given me something to google later 🙂

That should be fine for everything expect the Forigate I think you might be stuck doing it manually. Nedi was working on supporting them at one point so you may check their forums out and see what became of it.

Yeah, for proper use. Or caution, may be deemed unworthy of working properly.

Why should I do it more often than that? Linux boxes have been known to go years without rebooting.

Because it provides for safety and reliability. Just because machines CAN go without rebooting doesn't make it a good idea. And reboots are not to make systems run better, they are to protect against the unability to reboot when things are critical. No amount of "systems can run for years without a reboot" matters because that's not related to why we reboot.

I have seen enough about the getting hot and battery issues to dissuade me from moving to 10 just yet.

I wouldn't just yet...if for the battery issues alone on the Surface Pro 3...

Pretty much any computer outside of high end gaming and business grade computers will cut costs anywhere they can.

Along that line of thought, I would assume that the cost of removing it is more than the cost of leaving that part of the BIOS code alone.

    Ended up finding this

Enhanced PoE use Cisco Discovery Protocol to auto-negotiate a power level in excess of 15.4W per port.
The Cisco Enhanced PoE switch informs the powered device (PD) of the power level it is capable of providing, and the powered device then selects the appropriate power level.

    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/switches/epoe.html

So it may even need to by a Cisco Branded device... Ugh. Cisco!!! Why???

Some how I Dont think anyone that can afford the paid version of UEB or an appliance is going to be using C@C for anything they care to backup.

You can get a free UEB over there, which is what I use, and lots of people here are over there, and use C@C.

What makes you think because it works in the browser the ports aren't blocked? The app uses port 32400 (TCP)

Yeah, I know. Because the web link is jump.thanksaj.com:32400/web but, from what I can tell, it routes the Plex app through their servers via your account which then connects back to your server. I'm thinking that there must be some proxy of some sort causing the disconnect but I'm not sure if there is anything I can do to get around it...
