    • RE: What Are You Doing Right Now

Just want to let you know that I'm still around here, just busy with a few things. Some of you know what has happened to us and well.. Let's say we're ok so far and that there are just some major changes for us in the near future. Priorities changed, if I may say so.

But don't worry (or be afraid, your choice), I'll be back here sooner or later. Not just because of IT, but because I found quite some friends here during the last year. Thanks everyone for your support.

Not sure what their point is in rebranding.

      I could... but I'm not.

      Confusion?

Strange new branding... At least they didn't name it "G Spot".

OMG OMG OMG I just had lunch with Ed Tittel... one of the most influential IT writers not just in the industry but for me personally. When I talk about how I learned nearly everything in IT from books that I read, no author was more significant for that for me than Ed. I didn't realize that it was him until after lunch.

When you change just a few words in this post... sounds like some teen who met a boy group singer 😉

Need a written guide, can't really follow along with just the video when "programming" is so complex.

      Hope that helps:

      void getCoffee(unsigned char intensity)

        switch(intensity)

@BBigford said in Seriously, thank you.:

The threads here seem to start with a focus, and when the issue is resolved, it often spins off into another direction of good conversation. Not always a bad thing since the conversation can continue and the OP can just stop watching if need. Where other sites discourage that, which doesn't make sense cause you really don't need to start a new topic for every conversation shift. But I digress.

It is better that things get forked than continue in the original thread if they diverge too far. Otherwise, it makes it impossible to tag and find later.

One thing that makes ML special compared to other communities is exactly that. Problem solved, but the discussion may go on often talking about other aspects that are somehow related to the OPs question. @JaredBusch is right, this is a problem due to (additional) content not being tagged and therefore hard to find in the future. On the other hand, I think that this is what drives the community.

The kind people of the @Mods group started to fork threads lately when there is an interesting discussion that may be good to keep around, correctly tagged.

Just got home, fairly shitty day...but this one sums it up....

customer has a problem with a printer on a Mac, trying to fix it by removing and reinstalling etc, all the usual stuff. My test print works fine to it from word, but he's trying to print an excel sheet. Not got a clue (and I still hate macs) so tell him I'm going to do some research and is that ok. He says yes....so I look into it, find a few possible solutions, ring him back "Nope, you've run out of time, I have things to do now." - well....it's obviously not that ephin important then is it.

      /rant.

Like a religion on its own....

Really glad I have no Macs on my network. Have a simple 100% no net and no support rule for them.

Was just preparing my case for my new board when I pulled the wrong... tube of my water-cooling system 😉

It's so much fun to clean up an ethylene glycol / distilled water mixture. Luckily, there was no more hardware in the case. Nothing would have been damaged, but it's a PITA to clean up all the PCBs.
