I was trying to figure out a way to incorporate that into the thread...

All of the above examples seem like reasons to get fired at most places I've heard of.

      ...

      In what way?

It was mostly sarcasm, but the thinking part has me concerned. I know adults who don't have shoe laces because they don't know how / can't learn to tie them.

I wear flipflops orZems to work almost everyday. I can tie my shoes, I just see it as a negative impact on my time and productivity... 😛

I usually lace my shoes in a way that I can just slip them on but they won't just fall off. It's nice.

I tie mine about once a week, lol.

I guess it's simply getting access to the actual data. If the vendor will send over a csv, then it wouldn't be that hard...

Is this a matter of vendors denying access to data and only providing the info via their own configuration utility? So they need one from each vendor?

      correct.

That should all go into the calculation as to why that vendor is overly expensive.

The vendor actually is denying access to their parts data? This seems really unlikely. You've spoken to the vendor and they actually won't provide the data?

This is not uncommon at all. It is very common that manufacturers will strike deals with dealers and only provide information via that chain.

Large Scale Speaker systems are the same way.. You either use the manufactors crappy software or you use EASE.. http://ease.afmg.eu/

They only give it the data to them because they don't want everyone knowing the exact math that makes the patterns and such to setup a large scale array. If they did then people could copy their speaker systems.

Balvenie has been mentioned up post. One of the first distilleries to do the double cask thang. Some dandy offerings. Indeed. Yet I prefer their 15yr. old single cask. Ya' know, the stuff the master pulls and sets aside prior to double caskin'.... Dandy elixir. Indeed. If you can find it. 🥃

      Other Faves:

Talisker: Robert Louis Stevenson's poison of preference.

McCallan 12yr. Sherry Wood, Cask Strength. No longer exported to USA. But damn, I sure wish I'd not let my wife's neatness OCD polish off the last quarter bottle from my stash... ;(

Glenmorangie 18yr. Old Deep citrus, orange notes from that d'oroloso finish. Recommended. 👍 🥃

Much better then the son of Dracula one you had a few years ago.

I called that one too, from Alucard to Blacula

With the state of search here, what I want to know is how the hell did you even dig up a post like that to link it?

      Good memory, is my guess.

Yes I have what is called photographic memory, but that's a misnomer.... probably closer to exceptional memory...

      I most certainly do not!

Marketing and research are by far the primary means of getting information out, but sales plays an important role as well.

Not for me. I'm struggling to think of any product I've bought as a result of sales people. Marketing & research cover everything for me. In fact, sales people are such a turn-off for me, that I'm more likely to buy a product if they don't have any sales and I just talk to an engineer.

Well I generally agree, I am the same way here. I don't think that in the SMB it matters quite as much. We are far less likely to have a product seek us out to have a conversation, it's too costly to do. In the enterprise space, this is how it works though. Small, new vendor takes a big player out for food and gives them a presentation so that they get their name known.

Yes, I get that the network is a little odd. I'm unclear how the one recovery method that would have been applicable to an Windows Home OEM machine, slaving a drive, was blocked. If it wasn't blocked, why was anything else considered? If it was blocked, what does the network have to do with it?

Never mind. If the computer is still there, I'll check that folder location tomorrow.

Their monitors can be 'ok' but not great. Granted Acer doesn't really make them. Neither does anyone else make their own monitors for the most part.
