If I were to setup FreePBX and wanted to maintain call recordings would you guys still recommend Vultr or am I better to self host? I know the $5 and $10 instances do not offer a lot of storage. Can storage be added to these?
Thanks

@bigbear - I use https://cyberarms.net as a fail2ban for Windows equivalent. They used to charge a fee for licensing but now it is completely free. Very quick and easy to setup.
@scottalanmiller - I see your point. Well then...perhaps it could be of use for someone wanting to learn the Synology interface without owning a Synology

To be clear I wouldn't buy anything Brother that wasn't business class, cause that is crap.
Ended up picking http://www.brother-usa.com/MFC/ModelDetail/4/MFCL6900DW/spec
@JaredBusch - Yeah I think HP is in the same boat as Dell. Both are just overprice crap.
Hopefully I have better luck with Brother.
Which Canon did you go with and how has it been?
Again, I have not tried this yet. Not saying it is something I would just throw into a production environment. It's something I have not heard of until today. I didn't realize that DSM was open source.
@DustinB3403 said in XPENOLOGY - DIY Synology:
But why. . . are you realyl saving so much time and money up front that you'd need to do this?
I guess it depends on the Synology model you would be comparing against. The diskless DS3617xs costs almost $3,000. There are so many people on the FreeNAS bandwagon (I know not in this community) and this could also play as an alternative option there I guess.
Could be installed on a SAM-SD possibly
Has anyone heard of XPENOLOGY? Apparently you can install the Synology DSM software on your own hardware. Not sure I would trust this in production but seems interesting.
Think I will definitely be venturing in the Brother direction. Thanks!
@DustinB3403 - I just looked up the price for toner on the MFC-L6900DW and it is half the price of Dell.
@Minion-Queen - Is Brother strict on whether the toner is official Brother toner? I would typically buy Dell toner from Dell (rip off). Every so often I try to buy off Amazon and you end up with a third party toner that doesn't work or only works for a few prints and then warns you that the toner is not compatible.
We have been buying Dell printers the last couple years and the quality has just completely gone to sh*t. They have been failing left and right and I have really just had it with them. I have seen some suggestions on here to go with Brother for printers. Are there any particular models that you guys recommend?
I am basically looking for black and white laser, scanning/faxing, wireless, ppm 45 or higher, reasonably priced toner.
Are there other brands you guys would recommend besides Brother?
Thanks in advance

@JaredBusch - Would be similar to the way ScreenConnect updates.
ScreenConnect only updates when I tell it to.
Correct, I just meant that the update does not require the user to have admin permissions to push that update. Would be nice if Zerotier offered a similar feature.

@JaredBusch - I think on the Zerotier forums or in the Git comments I read something about the ability to autoupdate clients. Not sure if it is implemented yet but would be a nice alternative if they can't get the Chocolatey package figured out.
Nextcloud has an updater built into the client too, but my users do not have admin rights and cannot update it.
This has to be handled in an adminstratively controlled method.
App developers are not system administrators and shold not jsut assume shit happens like they want.
But NextCloud is running as a user application where Zerotier is running as a local service. Couldn't they still push the update without user permissions being an issue?

Do you guys use Chocolatey on your servers or just workstations?
@JaredBusch Would I just add an Exchange Plan2 license and then assign that to his account?
Does anyone know if it is possible to move a single user from Exchange Online Plan1 to Plan2? The user has been sitting at 49.5GB and keeps getting the warning messages. I told him cleanup his mailbox or archive but he insists he needs all his data. Is this possible or would I have to move the whole company to a different plan?
Thanks
