      Hey guys.

I'm esentially looking for a ring central alternative, I realize in the states you have google talk, but does anyone know of a free voip solution for one user, allowing deskline and mobile to be rung.

Everytime I find something on the googlebox, its not available in canada.

((Not sure if there's many Canadians floating around here??))

      EDIT: FOR PERSONAL USE

Its hard to own something for "life" and not use it haha

Personally I bought mine more as an investment, I know they cant be fully trusted right now but perhaps in a year two two when they become more stable, and no longer offer one time buys

You cant delete a (non CloudPRO) server, not giving me the ability to re-image my server while refusing to "upgrade" to pro.

    • Center text inside a white box (Website question)

      Hey guys.

So as I've mentioned before building a website for my wifes new cake business.
(Large learning curve, lots of googling, and help from a friend) Well I've asked him so many question I thought I would avoid him on this one.

I have a rough idea on this, but I thought I would still touch base here because if my "idea" is correct I still have alot of research to do and find an old video on Pluralsight that I believe I watched a few months back.

So what I want to do is on
      okotokscakes.ca/faq

I want to have the content under the questions (they drop down when you click them) to essentially drop vetically as far as it has to to show all the content (no scrolling left right or up and down)

Kinda like Cake Boss's website http://bakeshop.carlosbakery.com/faqs/
(Just googled the first cake website that came to mind and it works that way, they all do!)

Thanks for any help, advice, and guidance.

    • Whose got a 3D printer?

      Looking for suggestions.

I'm thinking per-assembled, as I would love somewhat that works out of the box.

I'm Canadian so add at least 25% on top of the price, looking for something "fairly" affordable.

Want a heated bed and self calibrating.

Would love to be at the 1k mark and printrbot simple falls right there but would obviously love something cheaper
Printrbot plus looks awesome with a 10x10x10 bed but comes to about $1800 with shipping.

      Thanks guys

    • Websites, SEO, and redirect questions

      Hey guys.

Looking for a few answers from the pool of wisdom out there.

So as some of you will know I know fairly little about website design but have fumbled my way through it to design a website for my wifes new business.

      Okotoks Cakes

Now most of it is built with custom post types, I was looking to change a few of the pages up but was wondering what the best way to do that would be without destroying my previous SEO and rankings.

My first change (and if it goes smoothly there will be more) would be to change the Cake Gallery so simply a page, assuming I can change the custom post type, I would keep the url the same, linking to esentially a page that did the same thing.
My larger change would be to change the url's after that example www.okotokscakes.ca/cakegallery/cakes to a new page, so even if I named the page "cakes" it would only be www.okotokscakes.ca/cakes correct? There's no way to nest if after /cakegallery is there?

So with that problem in mind what would be my best way to do this without destroying SEO.
      Would I do a 301 redirect?

And would I need to do one for every picture on that page, or just for the main url

      Thanks guys,

    • Allowing end users to install network printers

      Hey guys.

Whats the best way to do this?

I've tried doing this before once or twice and haven't been able to get it to work.
Our support guy is getting slammed, today alone he's having to install 2 printers onto about 30 computers.

I forget what I did the first time but I remember last time I tried to get it so the printer was added to add/remove programs

      Any help/tips/links are greatly appreciated.

Ya (so if memory serves) you add the printer drive into GPO correct? Then it shows up under the add/remove?

    • Mail SMTP Relay - Reverse DNS Question

      Hey guys.

This is a personal question for my homelab, nothing business critical, not even always a purpose to what I am doing other than learning and trying out software.
I know there are alternative ways to do something, I'm open to suggestions but ultimately I want to see this one to the end too.

So I am trying out something called Artica
I believe I currently have everything configured correctly, (end game is a smtp relay to a different port.)
      I currently have mail.domain.ca and I am adding mail-store1.domain.ca

Mail is coming in and being rejected for:

      NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from mail.example.ca[EXAMPLE IP]: 451 4.3.5 : Helo command rejected: Server configuration error; from= to= proto=ESMTP helo=

So looking deeper it looks like its failing on reverse DNS.

So using some google I'm being told to go to where my name server is hosted, so I went to them and got this response:

      *Hello,

Reverse DNS is already configured for the shared IP address you are on. If you need a custom rDNS for your domain or such (if that's what they're asking), you would need a dedicated IP address for your site, which we don't do for free.

The current IP has rDNS though, so it shouldn't really be giving you issues. *

I currently have mail.domain.ca working just fine but I would love to get this relay set up, for knowledge, and to try to minimize downtime.

After this I am going to try postfix as well but I would love to get this one up and running.

Anyone have any hints or tips why my reverse DNS wouldnt be working?
I have access to cpanel for whatever DNS or MX changes need to be made.

So far I've added an A record and the MX record.

      Thanks guys!

      Oh really?

So I need to contact where the virtual is hosted not where the nameserver is hosted?

      Hey.

Sorry for the delay, Tis the Season eh.

So ya, rDNS didnt matter on the relay, its working perfectly right now.

Thanks all for the tips and tricks,

Now onto my next homelab adventure!

      Nothing really

rDNS is still failing but the relay is working perfectly.

Simply whitelisted it on the mail server to be safe (but wasnt needed) and mail is flowing perfectly.

I think my random setting changes fixed it and I was simply focusing on the reverse DNS failure
