RE: We Need a Name for Us
MangoFarmers? I was inspired by the TV edit of Repo Man, where every instance of Mother Fucker was changed to Melon Farmer. If you haven't seen the TV version, you should just for the hilarious replacements they came up with for all the swear words.

RE: Gaming - What's everyone playing / hosting / looking to play
GTA V is still my game of the year and best game of all time to date though.

re: no internet - Webroot defaults to monitoring any new exe using the local heuristics until it can get back online. That way if it's determined to be malicious it can roll back any changes that new process has made.
seems like a nice compromise on a cloud AV
Oh Webroot is an amazing product. If you are thinking of getting it, do try it out and give it a run for it's money.
Unfortunately we just renewed our horrible Kaspersky since we didnt have time to properly test a new AV in our environment :due to all the major projects we had at the time
Hit of @nic and see what webroot can do to fix that. Don't just assume that all is lost. Webroot might be able to bail you out.
They already spent the $$$ for Kaspersky, they wont replace it until renewal time.
We have done contract buyouts before. Let me know if you want to talk to someone here.

Remember to test wires with the back of your hand, so the electricity doesn't make you clamp down and keep you getting shocked

Nemucod Ransomware Analysis
One of our threat researchers just posted a blog showing this ransomware in action:
https://www.webroot.com/blog/2016/08/16/nemucod-ransomware-analysis/
It shows the evolution of the ransomware as the malware writers adapt to various methods of protection and continue to refine the ransomware to try and escape detection. A lot of folks don't realize that while the ransomware may keep the same name over time, there's constant updates to the functionality.

Stealing.
Lying.
No commitment, zero energy, just slothful.
No desire/drive to improve on weak areas. These for me are the big 4, I'm not really into the "He wasted $$$ fire him" because I've done it in business and regretted it, mistakes do happen but you do learn from him but point 4, if there is no desire to improve after the mistake, then that's when we have problems.
I'm with you on the first two but for the second two I'd investigate to see if there's some underlying reason for the low drive. Could be a medical or family issue that could be corrected with some help. Especially if they were previously a good employee.

Latest from Lenovo - locked in to Windows
https://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/53rq2l/warning_microsoft_signature_pc_program_now/
Reports that installation of Linux is prevented deliberately by a proprietary RAID config that won't allow anything other than Windows. No confirmation yet if this is the case, but interesting discussion going on.

RE: Webroot Blocks OpenVPN.net
If you contact Webroot support they should be able to remove that block for you. The new guy is @JoshP_Webroot and he should be able to help as well.

I'm more addicted to buying than to playing. No time to play but time to buy.
I had an idea for a game called "Steam Sale" where you collect games but never play them
