Honestly if ERPNext and many of the other open-source systems actually mimicked Zoho, they would have a higher adoption rate as far as it pertains to customization and the interface. For example, Zoho Creator in my opinion is still the best SMB SaaS system pound for pound. ERPNext prides themselves on customization but the UI can be clunky.

That I can't lie it's pretty simple. Once it's setup. It takes just one evening. If the guys that made TurnKey Linux would change their FileServer to use one of the modern interfaces, I honestly wouldn't need to go anywhere.

Hey guy's I've had time to play with ICEHRM, Odoo, Sentrifugo and a few others. Has any come to a consensus as a "staple" app to choose from? I'm leaning more toward ERPNext since it is customizable (now that I figured out some of their data model).

    • RE: Which Nas OS?

@JaredBusch so JB I picked up a break/fix client from my partner MSP and they had a Synology running (well not running since it was unplugged.....) and the first thing I did honestly after evaluating their environment for 2 servers well past EOL and 1-2bay Synology nas was ordered 3 new servers so 1 can be an app server the other 2 can handle backup properly. I told the client I would feel more comfortable in a modern, stable environment.

    • RE: Which Nas OS?

@JaredBusch that's true, but you know there is a niche small market of people running the open version of the Synology OS on intel equipment. I don't think I could do that for production, at home maybe for kicks and giggles. I will honestly say from a standpoint of deploying the Synology platform, it did "just work" after reading TFM. Never really have issues. The biggest issue I have is when your device is outdated, support will NOT be there to hold your hand. Mark my words!

I guess on one hand 10 years later I still see SAM's logic, you are introducing risk and potentially a single point of failure. Most people just buy 1 Nas (raised my hand) and while it's powerful in that I can add rsync and other goodies to it, there really the same apps I can get from a stripped down linux. At home I use the Turnkey File Server/NAS and honestly it works better than my Windows Server. It doesn't hog anything. Have been considering ditching the Windows file server completely at home.

@black3dynamite good catch on 8.1 but i tried 8.0. In pissed even more so because the metadata backup basically was useless. Had 10 versions none worked without errror.

I also attached it as a ext3 because the directions said lvm, that got me further but still have 1 error when attaching. I’m frustrated upset and all the above.

Technically the only thing I can think of is maybe the format is wrong on how I executing the commands. It's an EXT4 as far as I'm aware since I used thin provisioning. Which I'm moving away from it's too much of a pain in the ass.

@Danp I've gotta XenServer reinstalled without issue, the problem is now attaching the PBD back as a SR. Yes I followed the same instructions even though its not the same error it's in the neighborhood basically so yes that was done and everything was working fine until I key in the last command.

If the logs are that big of a deal they can be remotely done, problem solved.... That doesn't still explain the issue at hand and how to fix that issue, not the stuff that aint got nothing to do with what I'm asking for help on.

done to /var/log on XenServer/Xen/KVM/etc. USB drives just aren't meant to handle that many writes.

If it takes 5 years to kill a flash drive, that is totally fine by me. How would that be any different than a HDD or SSD? Not much. For the record, I've had errors on all 3 mediums. Which again I might add, you all are deviating away from my question for help.

@krisleslie while I may agree with you on using an SSD, there isn't a point as each are storage mediums. The host loads most of the data in ram which again means kinda doesn't matter the device unless you start talking about usb 2 and usb 1 devices. I use usb 3 which doesn't have any problems with previous-generation tech. Lastly, as far as I recall all storage mediums break unless things have changed...

Actually sir that is what they are designed for. However, that old post is not "this post" and isn't the "same error". If you read the old post you would have come to that conclusion. If it was the same error, I would have obviously started back where this left off. Respectfully stick to the current post unless you have some helpful information.

It sounds like the same thing when you use Apple and MS-RDP. If you change the port sometimes it doesn't play nice. Maybe it's using UDP block that's crapping out?
