That's great. Never heard of Messer, but the videos look pretty good. Any specific recommendations on a lab setup for them?

Get them an EdgeRouter lite and a single unifi AP, have them configure to start with.
@Dashrender did that with me when I was first starting to learn it.

If they have a test environment available, also have them install and configure VyOS. Having to work from a command line teaches me much better than using a guide at least.

These are L0, manual firewall config skills are not even close to being in their range.

Agreed. Need something VERY basic. I'll start with the Messer videos and setup some sort of basic lab. Perhaps just a switch, and a cheap router with a GUI, so they can get the basic concepts and see them in action.

Something I have seen trip people up as they transition out of the basics is a poor understanding of binary and subnetting. As long as we have IPv4 it is a critical skill.

I'm with @scottalanmiller on this one unless you have one or two devices that need the file transfer capability then a site to site connection will be much better imo. ZT seems to simply be adding overhead for little gain. As for security I would imagine that theirs is good, but I haven't looked into it very deeply.

@travisdh1 most modern android devices are now encrypted by default?, if the app is sharing a file between devices, I would still want that file encrypted.

Both Android and iOS encrypt themselves as soon as you have a pin/password.

Anyone ever hear of https://liquidsky.com/ ? I met one of the Dev's for it and we had a pretty awesome conversation about some of the technology that goes into it. It's a work in progress, but there is a free trial currently. I was given a lot of time to play with it via this Dev and I played a lot of games I typically play for about 15 minutes a piece each. I have to say I'm very impressed with the lack of input latency. I did notice that there was a good amount of slowdown on Doom, but it is a work in progress as I said. I'm pretty impressed though overall.

This looks amazing if they can deliver on their promise. If you assume a 5 year upgrade cycle it would give you a $1,200 budget. That sets the bar pretty low for them to provide the service. I wonder how it does on high latency connections, and how much bandwidth it uses.

    • RE: Barracuda vs Meraki - firewalls

To get the topic somewhat back on the rails, @bbigford I have enjoyed working with Juniper. They have at least feature equivalence with Cisco and a significantly better engineered OS (based on FreeBSD). Their pricing is significantly better than Cisco (although not in the same range as Ubiquiti).

      Stormlight Archive

One thing I am wary of is that Sanderson has tried to tie all of his novels into one megaverse, the Cosmere.

It is an interesting concept, but it has made me leery of jumping into any of his books.

I don't think you will miss much not having read any of his other books. There are some subtleties about the tie-ins, but nothing that is story breaking if you don't know. It has more to do with him telling a large story spanning multiple worlds, with each series focusing on the way the underlying universal system is applied in that world. I have read everything he has written except for the WoT books, and he is my favorite author by far.

Aside from contacting the police and trying to get rid of the source would be to see if any of the users can move to a whitelist approach. If they're not in externally facing positions can you restrict which domains can send to them?

@JaredBusch we were acutally playing a Jedi and light saber game where we had to kill the storm troopers.

      It was pretty cool.

Likely it was WHAT @Dashrender linked then..

Other pictures of this thing definitely look like Ray's googles from EP 7

I love the endless games. Endless legend is one of my favorites

I've been a little disappointed by how Amplitude has handled ES2. It seems like they're going down the DLC all the races path that everyone else has done in the past. That is a little frustrating tbh. I like the way Firaxis did Civ VI. Buy the deluxe version and you get all the DLCs included.

@obsolesce Is this something that requires Exchange 2016 to be running on-prem? It doesn't say in that article.

Almost nothing requires Exchange on prem any more. There are edge cases, but the majority will never need it for any of the functionality to exist. The other thing to consider is the replication direction. Most of the Exchange attributes do not need to be sync'd to AD, and will only exist in Exchange Online, thus bypassing AADconnect.

This week is one of the first times that I have been actively wanting a DLC/xpac for awhile. The last few steam sales have passed with a meh, but now there are some things that I actually want, but they're not full games. Kind of weird.

      Hi guys

any recommendation of parental control app for android ??
as my requirement on app , such below:

      1. Limitation of using android tab/phone . if not within time limitation, tab/phone unable to use
      2. Limitation of App access also time management like point 1
      3. Limitation of accessible websites

      Thanks any respond
      Shybs

I don't know where you are in the world, but some carriers will do that for you without an app. Otherwise you're looking at an MDM. I haven't tried any of the ones out there though, so I can't be much help otherwise.
