That's great. Never heard of Messer, but the videos look pretty good. Any specific recommendations on a lab setup for them?
Get them an EdgeRouter lite and a single unifi AP, have them configure to start with.
@Dashrender did that with me when I was first starting to learn it.If they have a test environment available, also have them install and configure VyOS. Having to work from a command line teaches me much better than using a guide at least.
These are L0, manual firewall config skills are not even close to being in their range.
Agreed. Need something VERY basic. I'll start with the Messer videos and setup some sort of basic lab. Perhaps just a switch, and a cheap router with a GUI, so they can get the basic concepts and see them in action.
Something I have seen trip people up as they transition out of the basics is a poor understanding of binary and subnetting. As long as we have IPv4 it is a critical skill.
