Still need the service records in DNS regardless of if its hosted or on premise. so the new email domain suffix has to match in DNS in order to find the service records. Think that is where your issue is as we ran into this as we have "split brain " DNS here (different internal and external domains). Also the certificates have to match the domain name as well.

RE: Is Spectrum's modem really bridged?
@Fredtx when contacting Spectrum/Time Warner in the past I never used the word 'Bridged', that only confused the level whatever technicians. Always say you want to configure pass-through mode, or Spectrum needs to provide a device that does not include wireless. Right now I have 2 sites; one is in pass-thru; they do have a private IP in the traceroute but that at least so far has not impacted us. The device onsite is a Ubee modem with wifi that they insist will not be replaced unless there is a physical failure. The other site I had to specify that we wanted a modem only device no wifi or extra features and I did that at time of install. They provided a Ubee as well but its a base modem no wifi or other options just 1 coax port and 4 ethernet ports (I dont have the model# but can find it). Just be persistent that the device is not working properly and you must have A device that does not contain wifi or extra features.

RE: going with 3rd party Dell support vs Dell ProSupport?
We have used both Park Place and a company called Reliant for third party extended warranty for all our Dell PowerEdge servers. No issues with either of them. Prompt service and parts delivery from both and the techs they both sent were capable of the job.

RE: Does VMware have developer/trial licensing?
If you join VMWare Users Group you used to be able to get almost all their product licenses for $200 a year. Quick look shows it is still available; called VMUG Advantage Subscription:

RE: Unifi + RADIUS + AD
Related question: Anyone have any thoughts on the merits of Ubiquity vs Cambium Networks? They were suggested as another player to consider but I'd never heard of them before.
We looked at Cambium around the time of the Xirrus purchase; and was not impressed. Way to much glitter for not a lot of gold; their cloud controller was very difficult to navigate at the time. Can't vouch for Ubiquiti on doing 802.1x as I only use it at home with SSID/VLAN/PSK security
