It is a quota for the account. I only cared about the dedicated and reseller plans.
The servers are hosted on VMs on OVH Cloudunder OVH's Digital Launch Pad and the company is registered in Czech Republic; I would say that would explain the prices. You can contact them, they answer quickly.

Anyway, I have no affiliation. They were an option as other colleagues recommended it heavily. In the end I need full control so I am hosting Mailcow

Haven't used, but highly recommended by colleagues. I have contacted sales/support for some very specific things and the answer was very fast and knowledgeable.

      Perhaps I didn't update config.php!
I will check later, thank you

No. It didn't work. I believe that I have to update the rules for PHP-FPM in nginx conf
Anyway, I will try again this week as I need to set up a NC server for production. I may use Apache; I haven't decided

If I remember, your steps are for Apache; I was using nginx
**Edit: The scripts I posted suport Apache/nginx/minio

      CentOS 7:
I used https://github.com/onbrella/app-installers/tree/master/nextcloud to perform a test installation last month. The script seemed to be secure enough.
I had to change the nextcloud-12-generic-storage-nginx.sh script to use SELinux and something else that I don't remember but it worked very well ; LetsEncrypt included.
The only thing I wasn't able to do is to remove /nextcloud from the URL; I will revisit the script later with NC 13

    • RE: Windows Server Backup and Oracle

But what Backup system/software are you using?

I know that the question is not for me but... That is an interesting one. I have used a few (from BackupExec to Veeam) and of course, Oracle's RMAN. Oracle database in a beast and in my experience it doesn't matter what backup software you use; you need play by their rules.

In this case, it seems like the backup software is just trying to use Oracle's VSS writer to backup. I have done that and recovered databases like that, but in ARCHIVELOG mode. In this case the VSS writer is chocking on NOARCHIVELOG.

In the end, I usually have 2 backups:

      • RMAN
      • Something else that backs up at least the RMAN backups; sometimes in addition to its own backup.

      Call me paranoid.

    • RE: Windows Server Backup and Oracle

In NOARCHIVELOG mode the database must be shut down before you can back it up. I recommend you to change the database mode to ARCHIVELOG so you can perform an online backup.

There are many documents and blog posts about it, but this may help you:

      @thwr
I have mine working out of CentOS 7 minimal with ssh/perl and ports 2500-5000 open. Veeam does not even need root or NFS for a Linux repository.
Be careful as Veeam copies and executes programs to /tmp and I had my /tmp partition with noexec; took me a while to figure it out.

I can see that not having ftp will impact their workflow, but that is different from "it is not possible". I interpret their answer as "I will not work with you unless you respect my workflow"

Thank you! I am not into introductions, but I am a generalist (devops and whatever) and I have been enjoying mangolassi for a while. Finally decided to join.
You have a nice community here.

      @black3dynamite
Interesting question. Since Veeam added agents I completely forgot about ShadowProtect.
in my case, I am looking for Hypervisor based backups; otherwise Veeam and even Acronis work well for agent based backups.

But in the real world, we need incrementals and/or differentials of those snaphots.

Exactly. And please, a super easy and fast way to recover, either a VM or a file.
I know that Veeam/Xen Orchestra and others make backups look really easy and I would like something like that for KVM.
So far, https://github.com/dguerri/LibVirtKvm-scripts looks great on paper.

    • RE: KVM in Production - Build it yourself

Yes, I know. I am reading documentation and some of the source to determine if it is viable or not. So far it seems like some of the features it implements have been some how included in libvirt. Perhaps it would be a good challenge to bring this up to date.

The most important question is: Does anyone know a complete open source backup system for KVM? Like xen-orchestra for XS
I know about convirture and vprotect; seems like SEP has something but I am looking for open source (you know, because of reasons)

I am starting to play with KVM after using XenServer for a while. While looking for a good KVM backup solution I found:
      https://github.com/jagane/qemu-kvm-livebackup
      https://www.linux-kvm.org/images/b/b6/2011-forum-LiveBackup.pdf

I will be testing as soon as possible (probably in 1 week). Does anyone has any experience with it?
