We just published a blog this morning on RAID arrays, fault tolerance, etc. For someone that isn't well versed in the data storage aspect, I thought it was a nice little insight into how it works.

Sorry, but to expand on my last point--I'm more than willing to discuss shows I've already watched, especially if someone has just finished it. I like hearing about their flash reactions and how they're processing the story and compare it to what I think.
What I'm trying to say is: I got a really good theory that Mike's dad from Stranger Things is up to something nefarious and I want to discuss it.
I watched 1.5 episodes of that show and had to get out... bored me to near death.
It does start slow, I'll give you that, but it seriously ramps up once things start falling into place. I'd say give it to at least the 4th or 5th episode. For me, it hit that "what if this was me and my friends" nostalgia spot so maybe I'm biased.

I think you still get that social aspect of the "we are all watching this together" with binging, especially in conjunction with social media.
I feel like you get it more. Now less mainstream communities, which is a lot of people, can participate too.
I AM THE VOICE OF A GENERATION, SCOTT.

I think you still get that social aspect of the "we are all watching this together" with binging, especially in conjunction with social media. So while your personal social circle might not have that shared experience, countless others are in online communities (like this) that are all taking it in at the same time and are discussing it. I know I watched things like Stranger Things and Making A Murderer and immediately went to Reddit or other popular communities to talk about it even if my personal social circle hadn't finished it.
There's also a delayed sense of that special feeling of watching it together. "Have you seen ____? I just finished it, what do you think?"

About to reheat this weekends worth of leftovers which includes Thai food and tamales.
After that, apologizing to my toilet, probably.

Thanks goodness there aren't any Windows Phone users left out there to be affected by this
Haha! I watched that episode the other day!
Not to devolve this discussion into a Simpsons chat, but I really need to make use of this FXX Simsons World in my downtime. I'm always looking for something light as background noise when I'm doing other work.

The iPhone is not an innovation leader any more, and hasn't been for a long time. Android doesn't really need to catch up to the iPhone in much if anything. Force touch? I don't think Android lags behind, and in fact I have stated a few times in this thread that iOS has only just caught up with other platforms. It is the one I stated is lagging behind.
Having used both, I can't agree. The place where Android needs to catch up is in the basics, not in the "features." It's ease of use, standard interface and reliability of core services (email, text, voice calls.) The Android is great at being a gimmick and looks wonderful on a spec sheet or feature list... but iPhone just... phones better.
Mounds of OS fragmentation too. A lot of Android users are still on older software versions and that affects security as well.

RE: Smartphone doldrums
I think we've hit the ceiling in terms of smartphone "innovation". Eventually all hardware catches up, and with software, it just comes down to UI at the end.
I loved the freedom of Android, but there became a point where it was too free (if that makes sense?) and I was spending more time trying to get my phone to be set up exactly the way I wanted it rather than using it.
As a current Apple user, my only gripe is setting default apps--but a long press usually brings up more options at this point so I can choose Google Maps rather than Apple.

I talked to a couple of the Colocation America employees at MangoCon. They are pretty much across the street from Google.
I'M LOOKING IN THEIR WINDOW RIGHT NOW.
Are you using google goggles?
No, I don't use outdated technology, @RojoLoco.

I always look at those micro apartments and think, "NOPE!"
...but then I go home to my studio apartment like, "Oh..."

Well, of course not. Goggle sucks.

Trying to limit my carb intake this week since I ate like a pasta-crazed demon last month, so I'm having lunchmeat and cheese "cigars", broccoli with hummus, and almonds.
This week's dinner is baked cajun drumsticks and mixed veggies.
Same dinner all week long?
Yeah--it helps with time saving (I have a few other commitments after my work day is over), budgeting, and I generally enjoy what I make so I don't get too sick of it. Weekends are a little more lax and help break up the monotony.
I think I would top out at about 3 consecutive nights of the same meal. Even pizza might be tough for a whole week. Especially if it was the same pizza.
Totally--I have a gig Wednesday night that feeds me, so it helps break it up.
