@dbeato Not using FileZilla. I forgot they already know how to use WinSCP and I get no complaints from the users.

@strongbad The existing one is hosted by a service company. It also gets used daily. This will be a new one.

RE: SFTP Serverposted in IT Discussion
@emad-r They are asking for SFTP which will definitely be easy. We already use WinSCP and have no issues. Just second guessing myself and looking for some input from others.

RE: SFTP Serverposted in IT Discussion
@scottalanmiller No Idea. Always use 443 from browser. Don't use webdav either.

I have many instances of Nextcloud running but have never used SFTP with it.

SFTP Serverposted in IT Discussion
I need to set up an SFTP server for transferring some small files (daily) between two entities. I have convinced the C- Levels to let me host it on Vultr versus in-house, even though we have the necessary infrastructure. I wish they would choose another method than SFTP but I cannot change that.
I'm thinking Fedora Server with FileZilla but am open to other ideas. I haven't set up an FTP server in a while so I'm here for some guidance and advice.

I use them in both scenarios. I too just need a plain router. Don't need the other features.

ERL is my go-to. I have many of them deployed. Don't need the switch ports that are available on the ERX.

@gjacobse I just installed 7 Unifi G3 Dome cameras Sunday for a client and was impressed with the image quality and ease of use. Now I am just exploring my options again. I will probably use Unifi at my house when I get motivated enough.

@gjacobse Outdoor. Comparing dome and bullet. Problem is there are too many choices. Looking at Axis now and found their Companion line BUT they require proprietary Axis recorder and not ONVIF compliant.

@gjacobse @aaronstuder We sand bagged our house and my brother's down the street. It was very close but all is good. It was worth all the effort. Many others were not as lucky.

RE: Pi Holeposted in IT Discussion
@aaronstuder I had to leave for flooding so I didn't get much testing done. I am back home now and plan on doing some testing tonight.

I was amazed at the stats page and how much was being blocked. Very big difference. There are a ton of sites that balk at using ad-blockers though.

RE: Pi Holeposted in IT Discussion
Installed it last night on a Fedora VM. Works really well. Should have done it a long time ago.

RE: Pi Holeposted in IT Discussion
Damn. Now I'm going to have to try it at the house. Looks like a winner.

RE: Hurricane Harveyposted in Water Closet
Our local weather (Lexington, KY) mentioned it was going to gain due to the high water temp - nearly 90 deg. That is a massive amount of energy.
Thats always been the bad thing about the Gulf. The water stays warm and fuels these things.

I'm west of Houston. I've never witnessed the amount of rain projected for us.
