@Nic @grey thanks! There's beer (if that's your thing) in for you if I can take you up on it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Unfortunately I can't do beer due to celiac, but cider is right up my alley. There's a cider brewery downtown that Grey introduced me to that we could visit.

Let's make this happenโ€ฆ @Nic @Grey do you have any availability this week?

    • RE: Frugal advice on a obtaining legit copy of Win 7 for a VM I'm adding.

I did try the google thing - there are a number of sites with low prices and seemingly good ratings - but checking into them for legitimacy is time consuming. For instance, both those top online stores (software plaza and Tek-Micro) have several complaints about the keys not getting delivered or not actually working. I threw it up to you guys to see if any of you had a reputable channel I purchase through.

Thanks for all the replies though guys. I appreciate the advice.

Well, I'm looking for a cheap OEM of WIN 7 - immediate delivery of the key preferred. In fact, if any of you have an install image that would be helpful - I was planning on just rooting around for one.

Purchase of a cheap key is the intent of the post though.

Well, ultimately it's just going to be a Parallels VM to run on a Mac. So, I think I'd be safe.

Thanks, that's a good suggestion - but I had something more immediate in mind.

Just looking on how to come across one the cheapest way possible - but not shady like G2A. Thanks.

@g-jacobse That's really encouraging to hear. I'm very familiar with VNC, LogMeIn and TeamViewer. The latter being what I use most frequently on my support calls to my freelance clients.
I'm absolutely LOVE learning new things, in fact I think that's what has led me down the path as a generalist - I adore finding new technologies and learning how they work.
I would love to work in an environment where my peers are knowledgable as well as easy to get along with. I feel as though kindness rules, and we all have things to learn as well as a responsibility to share knowledge. So, as I mentioned, it's really encouraging to hear that you work remotely alongside those sorts. ๐Ÿ™‚

Perhaps my "lack of knowledge" has more to do with ignorance of where to find those types of roles and how to promote myself to be considered for them.

Thanks for sharing that though. I truly does make me feel a bit better about the outlook.

Thanks for the warm welcome. ๐Ÿ™‚

I'd love to know if anyone is from the greater Denver area. I hardly know anyone out here and I'd love to have an "insider's view" of the city as well as any advice about the surrounding area. I am planning on making this or somewhere nearby home for the foreseeable future.

My IT knowledge isn't quite in-depth enough for remote work at this point anyway. A lot of my experience is on-site support and production. While I find an opportunity for primarily remote work very enticing - I'm not sure I'm qualified in too many areas for that, and don't have large enough a client base, or steady projects for those areas I am.

Still trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up. ๐Ÿ™‚

Would I be correct in assuming your work isn't local for each of theseโ€ฆ destinations, rather most of your work is remote?

I can't imagine. But I guess if you're not set in one place, and have intentions to move that may make everything much easier. Are you moving between new places each time?

Crazy! Small world. Living in San Diego really made me miss the "folk" from there. Different animals out in SoCal. No offense intended, it's a blanket statement, but I'm hoping population in greater Denver are more like the city of good neighbors.
