RE: Anyone use Synology MailPlus server (Email Server Search Continues...)
Requirements:
1.) email in
2.) email out
3.) works
4.) outside filteringHonestly I dont know why anyone would host their own email anymore, so I figured why not just do it anyway cause this is a cool Appliance and it looks like Gmail.
Then I can keep my O365 account and make no changes. They can move off it back into O365 later if it blows. The whole appliance with storage and MailPlus would still be less than half what I originally budgeted.

RE: Anyone use Synology MailPlus server (Email Server Search Continues...)
@scottalanmiller In our early ISP days we had our own Postini rack servers for our filtering of ISP email accounts! We were grandfathered in for a long time til we discontinued providing it altogether. Eventually we switched to the Google ISP Gmail plan they probably still have.
Yeah I will check it out. Curious about this MailPlus. I wont be using it so I only somewhat care if its good. lol.

Anyone use Synology MailPlus server (Email Server Search Continues...)
As I have been referred to Synology, and it looks nice, I am exploring the possibility of of this MailPlus add-on they now offer.
I dont know if I can still get Postini since Google bought it (its the only filtering service I ever remember working). Was curious if anyone has used MailPlus.
I cant believe Google hasnt sued them over the UI.

RE: Moving our domain from old 0365 account to new one.
@Minion-Queen I cant give you any good reason why we wont use Google Apps. I know I would get a lot of flack over it.

RE: Moving our domain from old 0365 account to new one.
@Minion-Queen We have both domains under a current 0365 account. Have to move 1 domain and the associated mailboxes off to another 365 account.
Microsoft of course wont do this. Ugh.

RE: Moving our domain from old 0365 account to new one.
Company is splitting in two. 2 domains already as this has been long time coming. One of has to start a new account and move or pick a different platform.

RE: RS Mail vs Office 365
They are saying no IMAP anymore and only a $2/month plan. I just thought I would check it out in case I cant migrate 0365 from one account to another quickly. Maybe an interim solution.
I notice Synology has a mail system. Not sure if anyone has used it.

RS Mail vs Office 365
Also, I have seen Rackspace mail discussed here.
How does this compare to the $4/month exchange 1 plan on 0365. We have some guys that run Outlook, but mostly its webmail. For the Outlook guys do they get MAPI support, or do they have to run IMAP? Or would they be POP3?
Does it support journaling to an archive account?
Is the SPAM filtering good?

Moving our domain from old 0365 account to new one.
Does anyone know if its possible to remove a domain from one O365 account and immeditely add it to a new one?
I tried this years ago when I accidentally signed up for the small biz plan instead of enterprise. They then told me I had to wait 90 days to activate the domain again. Hopefully things have changed since then. It was probably 5 or 6 years ago.

RE: Duplicating IVR entries in FreePBX 13
@JaredBusch we aren't. It's a long story. We have about 8 years invested in FreeSwitch, OpenSips and Kamailio. A lot of custom development.
A couple years ago I had looked to leave our setup and we deployed Broadsoft. The grass wasnt greener on the other side so we doubled down on our platform.
Will back channel you sometime about the FreePBX use. Its caught my attention because they seem to be pulling way ahead of all the other legacy vendors who are dropping out of the market.
We are more focused right now on SMS/MMS integration and cellular.

RE: Duplicating IVR entries in FreePBX 13
@JaredBusch and we are actually a voip provider. We have are own interconnects in local markets. About 10 years running now.
This was originally a service we only provided WISP and Fiber customers. A lot of market competition has kicked up over the last 2 years so we are splitting our business up. Some guys are staying with VSAT/WISP company and the rest are going with expanding VoIP services.

RE: Duplicating IVR entries in FreePBX 13
@JaredBusch we have 4 border controllers for origination/termination in the U.S. So any IP where I call may originate from needs to be in a trunk. As per FreePBX developers you have to list each IP under a unique trunk.
Generally we would route calls in and out from one region, but the others are for network failover.
It would be nice to import them and then quickly edit each trunks user/password for the unique customer.
On our freeswitch platform and on broadsoft this was a much different experience.

This is awesome.
I wish their was a way to import default trunk settings. Is something similar possible?

RE: Exporting mailboxes and archives from Office 365 without using Outlook.
@JaredBusch said in Exporting mailboxes and archives from Office 365 without using Outlook.:
I have this saved as powershell script named
CreatePST.ps1
inC:\Scripts
on the Exchange server.# To execute script, you must open an exchange powershell window, elevated permissions not required. # First you must be in the scripts directory. # cd \scripts # Then execute the powershell script with 3 parameters. # ./CreatePST.ps1 >First Name< >Last Name< >email alias< # ./CreatePST.ps1 Jared Busch jbusch # The export path is not a variable as we need to know that it is writable by the system. param ( [string]$FirstName = $(throw "-FirstName is required."), [string]$LastName = $(throw "-LastName is required."), [string]$alias = $(throw "-alias is required.") ) New-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox "$alias" -FilePath "\\server\share\PSTExports\$FirstName.$LastName.pst" Write-Host "" Write-Host "To check status, run: Get-MailboxExportRequest | Get-MailboxExportRequestStatistics"
to my knowledge, there is no comparable feature for Office 365.
Most people recommend you use Outlook.
This is a killer script though. I was on the verge of setting up a local exchange server, migrating mailboxes in hybrid mode to the local install and running this script from there.

Get-MailboxExportRequest
Unfortunately "Get-MailboxExportRequest " hasn't made it to Office 365 support.
I did find that using ediscovery tools I could export all mailboxes as individual PST files. I hope they are formatted normally, will report back once its complete and downloaded.
I started using migrationwiz and realized they weren't getting the exchange archives. But this is better and I can't believe no ones mentioned it in all the forums where people are trying to find a way to do it.

RE: New Server for the office
@JaredBusch I think I am going to go with the primary onsite and secondary offsite approach. The full sync folder to branch office has never been critical, just always waiting for someone to solve this problem.
But honestly a more efficient organization of our data would be a better solution. Its just a lot to move around folder to folder.
-
RE: New Server for the office
@scottalanmiller Maybe it was Panzura that was multi-master.
-
RE: New Server for the office
@JaredBusch yeah I guess I see - you are talking about file locking and the live editing of the same document.
The files in question are rarely updated on both sides, very rarely. Definitely wouldn't be any conflicts as a result of two parties editing the same doc.
The more frequent use case is that someone dumps new docs in folder A and on the other side someone dumps something new in folder B and both want to see it. Someone would edit, finish a project forward in workflow to next person who would be able to see and edit it.
Is that something Synology does?
-
RE: New Server for the office
@JaredBusch its a long standing desire to have about 800gb replicated real time to a branch office. Looked at Nasuni and storage gateways starting at $50k.
I would assume dropbox on synology would work the way it does between 2 machines, but maybe I am wrong. Change a file on the network shared dropbox on synology and see it synced to desktops, then vice versa.
