    • Too much on my plate

      Hi,

How do you handle this situation?

I’m a head of IT Department running operations and projects for Group of Companies. I have very big project that is my 1st priority. Then somewhere - additional project pops out, 2nd project from 2rd important boss in the company, 3rd project from 3rd important boss, 3 more major issue from operations that becomes a project as well. Another project from 4th important boss. I feel even my Asana cannot keep up anymore. Then another project pops out which I wanted to do but I just don’t have time for now.

Now I’m planning to ask the company to have it source out even we all know I can do the project if I just have time.

How do you handle my situation and please someone remind me or shake me on how to handle this properly?

It’s just so much on my plate now and I end my day by doing work until I sleep on my table only to crawl back at 4 AM to do the same thing again.

    • Missing drive

      Hi,

I am looking for a missing logical drive in my Win 2012 HP server. We cant exactly tell how it was setup as the guy who did it is no longer connected to the company. I do however see a un-allocated space in my hard drive.

Is there a way for me to see if the data and drive I'm looking is in there?
Is there a log or event that will show how did we lost the drive F and when?

    • SSL query

      Hi,

I'm new on SSL and have some questions. I have a project that is an application accessible via web browser. the application will only be accessible within office LAN.

the application vendor wanted as SSL so that all data in & out of the server are encrypted. So we get an SSL even we feel we dont actually need just to get this over with. since the application is within LAN, what domain name should i use when configuring the SSL in the IS server? is that going to be the local IP address of the server?

I want to check here as my vendor will most likely ask us to register a domain name. it looks like the vendor is following a checklist based on a online web application instead of our plan of going an internal LAN application.

    • How to handle this

I have a colleague that i consult for department issues. So during our meeting he will agree and seems all is good. When we report it to the big boss he will be saying completely different thing even opposing the discussed idea. I wanted him to be involve with the decision making even i can make a call at the end. But it looks bad when i told the boss we discussed and agree to the documented idea only for him to say different thing during the presentation. WTH! lolz.

    • Fiber Optic LC adaptor

One of our fiber links is down, we are using a single-mode and LC connector. I found a fiber optic light source visual fault locator but has no LC adaptor so I cannot use it for checking. based on the video link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9ewC8StXDY&ab_channel=LawrenceSystems i should use adaptor but i cannot seem to find where to buy them.

I noticed my windows 10 machine (domain connected) automatically shares the drives (c$, d$, e$). how to prevent windows from automatically sharing d and e drives?

Those are administration shares. Unless a person has administration rights to the device they’re not accessible.

is there a way to prevent windows to share D and E even to the domain\administrators?

    • PBX queries

We have a Mitel PBX 3300 appliance/server. What are my options if I need to upgrade? Is there a Virtual Machine PBX solution that I can use where all my current IP Phones & telephone console can still be used? Is the VM PBX cheaper that the usual Mitel appliance? Or my Mitel 3300 PBX should still be good for 2 to 5 years and just getting the maintenance is the best and cheapest approach.

    • Out of office auto reply best practice

      Hi,
We set up an auto-reply (exchange) for employees that left the company. We then disable their domain account. I assume when we disable the domain account their email is disabled as well and inaccessible.
We noticed that the employee that left the company 6 months ago still has an active auto-reply. what is the best practice and how long should auto-reply for terminated employees?

      @brandon220 said in user files:

You could redirect their My Documents, etc to a shared drive on the server. They would still "think" they are saving locally but the files would actually be on the server.

yes, moving forward we will do that but for now, we need to secure some user files.
