      Here's a question for ya'll.

What do you call cooking steaks or hotdogs or burgers on a grill?

      Grilling

OK, and what's the difference between grilling and BBQ?

Grilling is just applying the meat to the grill to cook. BBQ requires a sauce.

BBQ is a specific cooking style that may or may not use a sauce (don't talk about sauce in some states in the south)

I'm in the north but I am a no sauce BBQ/steak person. My motto is, "If it needs sauce you didn't do it right." 🙂

Here Here. now that said, we have some top notch steakhouses around here that make some awesome reductions.. put it on the plate, then the steak on top.. hmmmm..

If you wanted a slowly cooked, smoked hot dog, it would be a big waste of time, but it would still be cooked via a BBQ method.

You definitely cool.. but again, why? 😛

I don't think there is any issue with calling a gathering of people where food will be cooked outside a "BBQ", that's pretty common terminology. And a nice reduction sauce on a steak is great... but most "BBQ sauces" are not. But only mustard or vinegar based sauces ever get near my BBQ. That sugary nonsense has no place on good 'Q.

That tells me its a local phrasology thing. thanks.

Local as in "in the English speaking world"? Yes

IMHO, you cannot really BBQ a steak (Strip/Ribeye), hotdog or hamburger but you can BBQ or Grill a chicken.

Why not? I mean "why would you", of course, but it should work just fine.

Let me throw it out this way, Q'ing a steak is like having a physical DC. LOL

Got a crock pot full of "shot and a beer" chicken for tacos. Beer, tequila, my homemade taco seasoning, citrus juices, etc. We're also giving the new InstaPot it's inaugural run later with some magic black beans.

TBH, I couldn't identify what I had. Something with a Italian cheese sauce, fried spätzle (what's the English term?) and some vegetables, mostly uncooked.

It tasted as good as it sounds like.

                                            Coffee for lunch.

There are 3 additional kids over for a play date at the house today.

I am NOT going in there.
