There will be lots of space for that. We will be either AT or next door to a Brewery, or at the Hotel it's self. Both options give lots of places for lower noise level.

It's also why I no longer even attempt to attend those events. The loud noise is hard on my ears and I really am uncomfortable, but I'm also there to talk to people and just can't at the parties. I used to go and be upset and just look to leave early. This past year I stopped going altogether and it is SO much better. The only party I attend is the Scale one on the boat which is freaking awesome and doesn't have any issues like that. It is the best time to talk to other SPiceheads, rather than the worst.

Also I control the sound guy so I will have everything at a much lower level than normally at these things.

              Control the band first 😛

              Amps off stage

Silent stage, you can really control the volume, and the talent will sound miles better.

This was one of the issues the last year I went to SW. Every "party" after the event was deafening. Hard to have a conversation with people.

It's for a reason, it makes it impossible for vendors to use the time to court people when not managed through the conference system. Only the vendors paying for advertising at the party get visibility. Any vendor that attends can't talk to people as the volume is so loud. It's very strategic.

I never thought of it that way. Still unenjoyable for someone who doesn't like loud music but atleast there is a reason behind it.

Except that the reason is to lower the value of the conference to make sure that people are not able to make the connections that they were hoping to make.

Smart vendors don't attend either, they go straight to the unofficial events and get loads of time with the customers, where they can actually connect.

having a band was on request of a couple vendors. So not all think that. And not all feel the same way as you either.

Because ALL of the profit in the conference is charging for access to customers. if there is free access, how do you charge for the gatekeeping?

Are you footing the bill for all that non-standard, expensive gear? You have to specifically request all that stuff when you rent sound, and it all costs extra.

But all are affected by it. The vendors requesting the bands are likely the ones sponsoring, right? It's not vendors just randomly saying "we should have bands instead of time to talk to customers" and getting a band. it's someone saying "we want to pay for a band".

Both bands do have electric drums that they do use for smaller specialized venues. So we can def do that .

It's basically hell for extroverts who see all these people that they want to connect to but can't. But my wife is an introvert and loves that the event has something to do that precludes any possibility of talking to people. So she attends them and enjoys the parties.

It's not that they are not fun, but they disrupt a business function, that's the biggest problem. Although now that so many people have learned to just avoid them, they work out better.

Part of planning something like this is you can't make everyone happy. But I have taken into account the need for some quiet and made sure there was space for that.

In ear monitors, can work out cheaper then wedges and they are incredibly standard in the AV world now.

Not standard for most bar bands. Some but very few have in ear. They disconnect you from your audience. I HATE them.

@Breffni-Potter in-ear may be "standard", but all bars have wedge monitors, and basically all sound rental places do too, in that their "standard" package includes wedges. The use of in ear monitoring is also affected by the type of band that's playing... I don't know any "rock" bands that would use them.
