      Look at Open-Mesh, not Ubiquiti.

Preferably not something that is on any kind of a subscription model. Looking at it looks good, but I'd like a non-subscription-based option as well.

You must know something that I don't, what subscription are you talking about?

Open-Mesh said it's cloud-managed, so it looked like a similar structure to Meraki, where you have to pay a subscription to have access to the cloud system?

Their management software is free http://www.open-mesh.com/index.php/solutions/cloud-controller.html

How did you jump from cloud to subscription? Those are unrelated concepts.

Right, no subscription. Not even an optional one.

To use Meraki, you can't outright buy the hardware and manage it for life for that cost. You have to pay to have access to the cloud system. That makes it a subscription model.

That's because it sucks poop. The cloud section in that image is listed as free.

Okay, but has nothing to do with this conversation. No one in their right minds would recommend Meraki here even if there was a budget for it.

                                So we covered this already:

                                1. We pointed out that you made a leap from Open-Mesh being cloud to you creating an imaginary subscription association that does not exist in any way.
                                2. Both you AND we said that there was absolutely no subscription or extra cost. YOU provided the documentation, even!

Open-Mesh said it's cloud-managed, so it looked like a similar structure to Meraki, where you have to pay a subscription to have access to the cloud system?

How did you jump from cloud to subscription? Those are unrelated concepts.

To use Meraki, you can't outright buy the hardware and manage it for life for that cost. You have to pay to have access to the cloud system. That makes it a subscription model.

Even if it's not necessarily every year, you can't just outright buy it and own it for life.

Okay, but has nothing to do with this conversation. No one in their right minds would recommend Meraki here even if there was a budget for it.

That's odd because just two years ago you were recommending Meraki to a customer. Did they change something to make people hate them now? I use them but only their free system for tracking my phone, PC, etc.

Ok, that was my question. I don't know a huge amount about them. That's why I was asking.

The problem was... you created an imaginary subscription cost in your mind then was looking for it to be refuted. But there was no such association.

Are you talking about the customer that demanded cloud management when Meraki was the only product on the market that did that?

Two years ago the market was a very different place.

Why is anyone talking about Meraki? That would be crazy to discuss. We are talking about Open-Mesh and Ubquiti.

You're missing my point. Can you, with Open-Mesh, buy the hardware outright and never have to pay another penny again for ANYTHING involving the equipment?

                                        So we covered this already:

                                        1. We pointed out that you made a leap from Open-Mesh being cloud to you creating an imaginary subscription association that does not exist in any way.
                                        2. Both you AND we said that there was absolutely no subscription or extra cost. YOU provided the documentation, even!

Ok, that's just what I wanted to make sure of. Again, wasn't trying to argue, but I was a little confused but we're good now. So you can manage it via their cloud for free, unlike Meraki. Do I have that correct?

Their cloud? No, I believe it is YOUR cloud. Just like Ubiquiti. I saw nothing about them hosting a service for you. Maybe they do, but I doubt it.
