Make sure it has AC. I just did a conference in the Adirondacks and it was nearly awesome but kinda sucked when you included the lack of AC and alcohol.

I actually have a camp ground we are going to take a look at. Cabins, conference space, internet and a dining area with a bar. We will see what I come up with . Lots of options but just have to figure it all out.

        Does it involve Beavers?

        Does it involve ZOM-Beavers????

Oh AC is a must! I am not doing a conference without it! Alcohol is a given.

"To sum up, if you like to laugh, you are doing yourself a disservice by not watching Zombeavers. It's the quintessential horror-spoof stoner-comedy that you can watch with friends and have a blast. As far as creature satires go, Zombeavers puts Sharknado and Piranha 3D to shame.

...quite possibly the most ridiculous sentence in the history of language, which is only a testament to Zombeavers' utter greatness."

Well I know what I'm watching tonight

Actually I check in Florida and a few other places they all have the same rule. If they have a liquor license for that venue it has to be someone on their payroll doing things. Conference centers are also pretty uptight about just about everything.

Anywhere but Florida. Seriously, that place is effed up to the max. And if you're anywhere near water, big $$$$$$$$$$$.

Wow.. I found it to be the exact opposite. I love Florida - Orlando.... I found reasonable rooms with skywalk to the main convention center ($120/night), or crappy cheap ones in Kissimmee ($40/night). Food runs the gambit.

A conference room/center that we controlled for 48 straight hours (or more like 60) would be awesome. Assuming they allowed us to BYOD that could be a ton of fun!

For many countries, yes. Even in Europe which is basically a single country. In the US you get lower rates when you don't go between states. So between the US and Canada I'm sure that there is more cost.

Eh? The only time I've ever been told I couldn't take a car to another state was when I was looking to rent a 15 passenger van. They said that IOWA makes them, the vehicle owner, responsible for any accidents regardless of who is driving.. so no Iowa allowed. Beyond that I rented a car that I drove to Atlanta and back, it was the standard rate - I just need to make sure I had unlimited miles.

I rented a Chrysler 200 from Enterprise at JFK and had to verify that it wasn't going to leave NY, NJ and CT. This is months ago.

Did you use their full coverage insurance? Even if you didn't, that could have more to do with it than anything. Different area/different insurances act differently.

This is possibly the thing. Never looked myself as I have full coverage for my vehicles and that covers me on rentals also.

I'm sticking with MangoCon. It's the name that's been cycling from the beginning, and it's catchy. If you're worried about people's connotation that it has something to do with fruit, take a gander at "Spice World" as a name. Does it have to do with the Spice Girls, or is it about cooking, or what? The last thing that would come to mind is an IT convention. You can't really do worse than that, yet that doesn't seem to have hampered its success.
