Streaming live video to the masses

Scenario: I am going to be at a golf tournament (semi-pro) and want to stream video so that it can be viewed by the masses. How/where do I start? What equipment would you recommend? Should I do this with a cloud based vendor? Am I going to need a dedicated wireless network at the golf course, etc...?

It Depends are you looking to do just a simple low quality if it work, it work youtube/ustream type thing or are you trying to do a professional production with it?

Rent it and pay a company to handle it all. Contact a quality A/V Company.

I was definitely thinking on the lines of hiring someone to do it, but what technology would I want to preview? @Nic I'll check out Pied Piper - what does SpiceWorks use?

Well Pied Piper was a Silicon Valley joke, since their fake startup does video compression and streaming. As far as for your purposes, you'll probably just want to use one of the streaming services like Twitch.tv or Youtube (or Periscope is the hot new one that everyone is using). Then your only concern is video equipment and upload bandwidth.

Why do you need to look into any of the technology. Hire someone a skilled consultant/rental AV company (almost all of the consultants are rental houses too) and let them handled it all. Just get someone you can trust to take care of it. No need for you to tell them what to use. Do you tell the Farm how to get the best apples for you?

I was trying to remember periscope when I read this yesterday. Never used it, but heard it was usable.

As others have said, get an AV company to do it properly, they should be able to give you a camera to distribution setup.

I was trying to remember periscope when I read this yesterday. Never used it, but heard it was usable.
Yeah my boss asked me about Periscope last week and then I ended up seeing a lot of celebrities using it for streams. I haven't actually had a chance to play with it at all.

There was a lot of talk about it on Security Now and Windows Weekly a few months ago - mostly around celebs using it - but since I don't care about those narcissistic weirdos I never bothered to check it out...
