      HI all,

I need to take automated backup for our Firewall and Swictches. Currently we are taking manual backup and its takes a lot of time. Our requirement to take automatic backups of all our network devices.

      We have Cisco ASA 5510 , Fortigate 110 C/40C, Dell Switch 5524 , Dell switch N2048 , Dell 2824 , Cisco Catalysit ,Juniper SRX 240.

Cost effetive tools is preffered .

We are testing spice work and RANCID , but looking for a solution dedicated to automate network device backup.

Please suggest a suitable solution .

Mangine Engine has some great products for that. I've used them before but they can be quite costly as there is a per device (and some times per port) fee.

Nedi can also do switch backup http://www.nedi.ch/ and it's FOSS

        There's also http://www.kiwisyslog.com/products/kiwi-cattools/product-overview.aspx

With that few of devices it might be worth it just to save the configs every time you make a change.

I doubt many of the solutions will be able to backup this one.

Just wondering, are you making changes so frequently that you need daily backups of these?

If you have multiple people making changes and can't always guarantee they'll save the changes to a backup it's normally to do it nightly.

That does not answer the question though. Do you have these devices changing so much that daily backups are needed? Regardless of who is making the changes.

But you wouldn't know with everyone making changes. That's why when you do it it's nightly.

That should be fine for everything expect the Forigate I think you might be stuck doing it manually. Nedi was working on supporting them at one point so you may check their forums out and see what became of it.
