Is the End Near for Windows Phone?
-
@nadnerB that too. It makes for a messy interface.

For low end, it isn't bad...if you have any questions, let me know...
Lots of reports of the app store being full of malware, wondering if you can confirm?
General thoughts on useability / UI ?
Pros / Cons?
There are a lot of "fake" apps out there and Microsoft is working on purging those. Just make sure the publisher is who actually makes the popular app.
I totally love and use the live tiles. Very helpful. I also use the FAMILY ROOM or general ROOMS feature and it is fantastic in keeping groups of family members with Windows Phone in touch. Love, LOVE this feature but you for sure need other members of the family on Windows Phone.
The settings screen is long and drawn out and could use some work.
Cortana rocks if you really use it like it should be used.

Very hard to verify and this requires you to know the publisher and many publishers are fake too. Microsoft allowed so much malware in there that they should start over. When I was looking for apps, it was often nothing but malware. Real apps were definitely in the 5% of less range with no means of positively identifying them.

I forgot about the Family Room feature! It's tops!
Mrs nadnerB and I use it a lot. Our main calendar is there and we have our get-this-on-the-way-home-from-work shopping list in the Family Room OneNote notebook

We have a FAMILY ROOM for my wife and I...one for her side of her family (those with Windows Phones, which is about 7) and one for my folks. VERY, VERY handy. And sadly, one of the last "hub" apps really still left that is useful.

Is the Family Room feature new? Never saw that with mine.
-
@scottalanmiller Not as far as I remember. It's under the People app (contacts)
-
Ah, not something that I ever use on any phone. I would never have seen it.
-
I bought this phone with no contract and no mobile account (I do plan to move my AT&T SIM but haven't yet).
When I tried searching the store it just sat there forever, never finding anything. It was late so I gave up last night and went to bed.
This morning I was trying to add my O365 account and got a cert error - but I confirmed the addresses and moved forward. Next I ran into more SSL errors while surfing the web on my wireless LAN. After a bit I realized I had a larger issue - some Googling later I found out the phone wasn't set to the correct time. Since I'm not on the Cellular network, the phone isn't getting time from the towers, I guess it won't bother trying to get it from the internet (It was set to CDT). Once I manually set the time I was back in business.

Now that I have FB sync'ed and my O365, I'm getting tons of notifications - I'll have to figure out how to disable them. I'd like it if the mail icon indicated that I have new messages, and maybe the same with FB, but I don't want a list of those notifications when I pull the top down.
