Kerberos is an authentication protocol that has been around since Windows Server 2000. It is the gold standard for on-premises Active Directory authentication. Azure, however, didn’t support it. To further enhance the security and interoperability of its environments, Microsoft announced changes to Kerberos and its Azure Active Directory compatibility.

Kerberos is an authentication protocol that has been around since Windows Server 2000.
That should read: Kerberos is an authentication protocol that was introduced to Windows in Server 2000.
