Greetings. A friend of mine has 2 doors that have old intercom speakers that are connected to their PBX. When a guest presses the button, it dials an extension and they can talk. This is on a Panasonic PBX. They are migrating to hosted PBX and were looking at Algo SIP intercom units. I have never installed these and can't give any advice to him.

Does anyone have any feedback on Algo or a recommendation on SIP intercom units. They are in the process of installing a new CAT6 to each door in preparation.

      Thanks

@brandon220 The algo 8028 not only allows you to communicate but to also remotely trigger the mag lock from the phone connection.

Algo is a decent brand. I have used it before. Same for Viking.

Either will have a solid product for your needs.

But if you have a current box, you may not need to do anything special.

How does the current box call? Standard POTS? Just get a Grandstream HT802 (because you have 2 units).

Your current units are just punched down on a 66 block. reterminate them to RJ11 and plug them in to the HT802 line 1 and 2. Program an extension for each port, then set the HT to auto-dial a ring group or whatever. Unless the current thing actually dials an extension instead of just opening a line.
