In Windows 10, can you uninstall or remove OneDrive? Simply put: no.

OneDrive is part of the Windows 10 OS and it cannot be removed. It's just part of the bloat that you commit to when you select Windows 10.

You can disable OneDrive, but that is not the same as uninstalling it. To do this, you need to edit the Local Group Policy on stand alone machines.

      1. Run gpedit.msc
      2. Click OK
      3. Select Administrative Templates folder.
      4. Double Click on the Windows Components folder.
      5. Double Click on the OneDrive folder.
      6. Double Click on the Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage option
      7. Select Enabled.
      8. Hit OK

OneDrive on Windows 10 actually has more functionality than the OneDrive for Business client.

For example attaching your OneDrive folder as a favorite in Explorer. (we use it here constantly) and it's incredibly annoying, because you'd thing OneDrive for Business would be capable of doing this, but nope.

I thought they merged the OD and ODfB clients?

They are very much different pieces of software, with different functionality. But OneDrive can be used to access ODfB account. I'm not sure about the other way around though.

The ODfB client is never pushed anymore, but last I checked it still exists.

But, new setup I did for a user today, it was not used to connect to their stuff. It all use the OD client.

                        They did.

Right - that kinda flows in with what JB said above - they don't push out OD4B anymore.

Ah I remember the early days when I would get in so much trouble for using terms like Onedrive.

                            That's awesome.

                            Somehow I missed that.

ONly when you were talking about something other than OneDrive 😉
