I have friends near Dallas. I could save some $ on hotel if they are close enough. I assume venue and address will be announced later this week as well?

Probably next week. But it's basically guaranteed to be in either Carrollton or Addison, which border each other. Do you what area your friends are in?

I'm not married to that topic, but it's an option. I could do one on career (fitting with a topic that might be on the Nerd Journey Podcast) or some other technology. I also thought about a talk that would give some tips on planning a successful upgrade (of any major application - LOB, hypervisor, you name it) and how to keep the user base as happy as possible during that process and after it is complete.

Chicago to Dallas by train is not "horrible." It's long, but not that bad.
